"We're kind of like a platform," Giusti said, pointing out that some of the wrestlers have gotten exposure through NCW and gone on to larger venues.
Among the wrestlers in Giusti's outfit, the emphasis is on athletics and training rather than just whacking opponents over the noggin with chairs or gimmicks.
"The athleticism is real," he said. "We only use guys who know what they're doing."
During training, enthusiasts learn the moves and psychology of wrestling. But in the ring, much of the action is improvised according to the characters and their storylines.
"It's mostly guided by the audience," Giusti said. "You really do get a sense that you're a part of it."
Giusti, who handles promotion and production for NCW, said Howard is the "creative force" behind the group; he recently redesigned NCW's Web site -- www.thencwonline.net -- to resemble Myspace.com, a popular networking and dating site.
This year, NCW has held two events. Finding an appropriate venue that's affordable often is a challenge, Giusti said.
Asked about NCW's future, he said, "I don't look at it as we're going to be here in 10 years. I just look at it as we're not going to stop."
