David vs. Goliath
By Lawrence Harrigan; 05/06/2008

Who are these new faces of the NCW locker room? Well over the past couple of months we have seen a rise in new talent that has been welcomed into the NCW locker room. They all come with great talent and bright futures as they try to impress everyone in NCW and the fans. One of the new comer’s stands out from the rest in my mind is Rob “The Giant”. Rob shows not only the most talent of any of the new comers but the most heart out of everyone in the locker room. Though he is not a huge physical specimen to look at, this young man does his best to compete every time he steps into the ring. Rob is clearly undersized to every one of his opponents that he steps into the ring with. Rob, though shows that his determination will carry him far in the business as he appears to be afraid of no one.

Saying that lets just show you how much heart he has to have as I am going to compare him to one of NCW long time Veterans. “Textbook” Dean Porteau is a large man that crushes his opponents with his large physical attributes. Dean the largest man in the locker room, but possess the agility of a light weight and the strength of a world’s strongest man. Dean does not care about any of his opponents as he is here in NCW, simply for one reason and that’s to win.

Rob reaches the 5 foot mark on his toes and weights about 135 pounds. Loving the sport of wrestling and wanting to entertain the fans Rob likes to keep it a fair contest. He has the same strategy for everyone he faces and that’s to take his opponent down to the mat. Taking them to the mat makes his opponent “his size” and there he says “it’s a fair fight.” Though he knows his weakness is his size and strength he truly believes that he will win no matter what. “It’s not about the size of the man, but the size of his heart." rob stated when talking to me. He believes that when it comes down to it he has a greater will to succeed than his opponents do.

Dean on the other hand, a ring veteran uses his size to his advantage. Tipping the scales at 305 pounds this massive man knows how to use his girth. With his in ring experience he believes that he is the best that NCW has to offer. He proves this by being one of the top contenders for the heavyweight title. Dean does not look to make friends as he is a very serious man but the crowd seems to love this massive man everywhere NCW travels. When asked what type of strategy Dean deploys he says “My strategy, my strategy, there is not a small man out there that runs faster or jumps higher than me. I am the most well rounded athlete in the business I don’t need a strategy, they do!” Dean sees his job as one thing and that’s to win just like Rob they both expect to come out on top.

These two men are completely different but have one goal and that to show everyone how good they are. The NCW looker room posses some of the greatest talent in wrestling that comes from New England. With these two men being so diverse from each other it shows how for any to compete in NCW they need to be well rounded and able to adapt to any situation.

Bitts & Pieces: Silencing The Violence
By Todd Bitterman; 05/06/2008

When Northeast Championship Wrestling returns to Dedham on May 23rd, "The Showoff" Mike Paiva has promised to make waves yet again, as the former NCW President plans to address the same crowd he returned in front of back in January 2006 at Silence the Violence V.

"Despite the Dedham crowd being the most undeserving group of slobs in wrestling history, they will get to bare witness to my anouncement May 23rd at Silence the Violence VII. Many have asked me why I've requested this opportunity, and many have asked why I've challenged Richard Pacifico to a match. Everything will become clear that night, but rest assured that when Mike Paiva makes an announcement, it's important."

As I prodded Paiva further in regards to his announcement, I questioned whether it had anything to do with his loss to his loss with Jon Thornhill at REUNION. "What no one seems to understand is that Jon Thornhill is one of the best wrestlers in the independents today, and after being an inactive wrestler for four years I walked right back into the fire and went toe to toe with him. Does any of that matter? Of course not. Not to the casual, idiotic fan and not to the writers of this stupid website. When does Mike Paiva start getting the respect he deserves?"

An agitated Paiva stormed off from there, but one has to wonder where Paiva's head is at considering his disappointing loss in the 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match in Pomfret. Could "The Showoff" be having second thoughts about stepping down as NCW President? And what does Pacifico have to do with any of it? May 23rd can't come soon enough to find out.

The new NCW Tag Team Champions Mike Volpe and "The Kreeper" Brandon Webb were seen partying out on the town along with their women and NCW newcomer Anthony Stone (a close friend of Brandon Webb) following their big victory at REUNION, upsetting The Winter Hill Gang to become Tag Team Champions during the 3rd Annual Tag Team Title Invitational. The unlikely duo came together shortly before the event, with both men looking to make a definitive impact at NCW's eleven year anniversary. Could Volpe and Webb be the new generation of tag team wrestling in NCW? Volpe has been on a roll during the 2007-2008 Season, being undefeated in competition AND holding a pinfall victory over NCW Champion Doug Summers in Non Title action. "The Kreeper" has also been undefeated during the NCW Season, and despite being unmasked by Cenobite at NO FEAR, has shown no signs of losing focus on reaching the top of the NCW mountain. The Championship duo will be in action May 23rd, with both men eager to put their Championship on the line for the first time.

Silence the Violence has always been a marquee event for "Revolution" Chris Venom, who's been known to make a statement in the name of cockiness and bravado at this annual event. Otherwise known as vintage "Revolution", Venom first made waves back in 2000 at Silence the Violence II, when he challenged then Heavyweight Champion Big Poppa Drunk and then had the audacity to steal the NCW Title after the match ended in a No Contest. At StV V, Venom utilized the help of "Pinnacle" Paul Lombardi and The Original Kings Of Old School to help screw Ruy Batello out of the NCW Heavyweight Title, winning it for a second time that night. When NCW returns to Dedham on May 23rd for Silence the Violence VII, Venom makes a statement yet again when he faces the returning hometown hero Jon Thornhill in one of the 2007-2008 Season's most anticipated contests. Both men have held strong records this year, with Venom coming off a big win over rookie Nick Westgate while Thornhill ended his rivalry with "Showoff" Mike Paiva at REUNION. A victory in Dedham will guarantee better positioning in the NCW rankings, and with both men never having a signficant match with each other, many will be looking on with eager eyes May 23rd when these two collide.

While the rivalry between NCW New England Champion Cenobite and Richard Pacifico seems to be escalating every show, Cenobite will have to deal with the former New England Champion May 23rd when Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter utilizes his rematch clause to challenge the Champion. The monster from the seventh circle has been absolutely dominate in the last few months, and while he technically got a clean victory over Pacifico at REUNION, many are calling for Cenobite's use of his dangerous mask to be banned or cause for disqualification. When TheNCWOnline.net caught up with Pacifico following REUNION, the former 3 time NCW Champion was dejected, but not defeated in his quest to gain some revenge on the Champion.

Pacifico checks out the ring before an NCW event

"When I came back to NCW last May, I never thought it would be permanent, and I definitely never imagined competing for a Title again. I go about my business, I work my 9-5 and I do this on the weekends because I love wrestling. When Cenobite attacked me with his chain at The Big City Rumble he woke something inside me. He took me out of my dream, and brought me right back to reality. Try explaining to your manager why you have a giant welt on your face and how some masked maniac smashed your skull in. It doesn't go over very well. I'll deal with Cenobite again, and I'll get payback."

Davey Loomis-- Breaking Point
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 04/26/2008

It was the therapy he needed all along. On April 12th in front of his friends and family, before his former preparatory school alumni and high school amateur coach, Davey Loomis destroyed every expectation anyone has ever had for him as he tried to tear apart "Textbook" Dean Porteau's knee during their grudge match at REUNION. Ever since he was little, people expected great things for young David. He always was forced to push himself harder and train religiously in order to overcome any obstacles, and he did it to boot. Being a genetic freak definitely helped, but the middle Loomis child was always expected to give 110%.

Pressure can begin to mount however, and David was definitely beginning to feel the pressure when he entered NCW in the Spring of 2005 after having established an incredible amateur record. Loomis excelled however, and even defeated Derik Destiny for the New England Championship before it was reversed due to Destiny's "old school rules". Success and gold seemed destined and merely a formality, but Davey's ego took a bruising when he was defeated by friend Doug Summers in the Finals of the NCW Heavyweight Title Tournament at Silence the Violence VI. After tearing through the competition, Summers outsmarted Loomis, silencing his Title dreams. The two shook hands and embraced following the match, but everyone could tell Davey was reeling from the loss.

The expectations of greatness reached a fever pitch when Loomis began his freshman year at Rhode Island College on a wrestling scholarship, with a Wrestling State Title expected in hand. Fear isn't something Davey Loomis deals with like most humans, but that's all that consumed him on May 25th, 2007 when "Textbook" Dean Porteau severely injured Davey's knee during tag team action, all but guaranteeing surgery on his already hurt ACL. The surgery took place the first week in June, and Loomis sat from the sideline in a wheelchair two weeks later when the evil bastard who hurt him challenged Doug Summers for the NCW Heavyweight Title-- And the crowd loved it. In one night "Textbook" Dean Porteau became a hometown hero after winning the Lockeroom Brawl, and when he went up against Summers had the entire building behind him, except one man of course. Loomis was in shock. He couldn't believe the fans could turn at the drop of a hat, and revere someone who had so many bad things. Davey's eyes were opened, but he wasn't ready to give up yet.

For 10 months Loomis trained and worked harder than ever to be at his peak physical shape. Setting a return date for early January, Davey planned on returning to action at his Grandmother's Tribute Show to challenge "Revolution" Chris Venom & Triplelicious. In need of a tag team partner, Loomis got the call from one of his idols in the form of "Primetime" Randy J, the wily veteran of The Showtime Posse. Davey blindly trusted "Primetime", but paid the ultimate price when J turned on Loomis during their tag match, helping Venom & Trip to victory. Dejected, Loomis tried to pick himself up knowing his NCW return was only weeks later in Taftville, Connecticut. Things turned sour for Loomis even before the show when he found out that he would be teaming with the very man who injured him when he wrestled in Total Elimination at the 2008 Big City Rumble. Unable to convince Team Captain Jon Thornhill that having Porteau on the team was a bad idea, Loomis grudgingly accepted the situation and did his best to make it work. And things were working well until "Textbook" inadvertently speared Loomis to the mat, allowing the opportunistic Tim Kilgore to score the victory and eliminating both men. Despite getting a measure of revenge in The Big City Rumble by eliminating Dean and winning the Match,Loomis was furious over how things have unraveled over the last year, culminating with the events of March 22nd.

Despite utilizing his Big City Rumble Title Match at NCW's 11 Year REUNION, Loomis wanted a piece of Porteau, and willingly signed up for a match earlier in the evening against his rival. With all his supporters watching, David Loomis finally took things into his own hands firing the first shot against Porteau and brutalizing him during their grudge match at REUNION. What emerged was a bitter, cocky individual who showed no remorse against the former Beast, doing everything possible to tear apart "Textbook's" knee. It was a sight to be seen as Loomis went from hometown icon to hated jerk within the confines of one wrestling match, but Loomis pulled it off. After being DQ'ed against Porteau, a sly smirk came across his face, as if a weight had finally been lifted off his shoulders. He no longer had anything to prove to anyone, just himself.

REUNION Recap
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 04/26/2008

It was a night to remember when NCW celebrated its eleven year REUNION at Pomfret Prep, a show benefiting The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. JC Marxxx, slowing down in his old age, announced the event as Senior Official Dan Tanaka also returned to the ring after his serious medical injury last month.

The night started off with tag team action, as two teams made their NCW debuts when Da' Underground Rydaz (Rob Marsh & Hatchet w/ manager Paulie Ruthless) took on the high impact duo of Anthony Stone & "The Reflex" Eric Dylan. Marsh & Hatchet, being the more experienced as a unit, dominated the early goings while Dylan and Stone found their footing. Eventually the duo made a valiant comeback as Stone made the big tag to "The Reflex". In the end Dylan hit a huge backdrop suplex, picking up the win for his team.

Before Marxxx could announce the next contest, he was abruptly interrupted by "The Articulate Anglo-Saxon" Ken Banks [the former Legion Cage], who made his triumphant return to NCW after six and a half years. Banks was quick to point out that his return to the promotion would herald a new age for NCW, but before the eloquent mastermind could continue the "reigning" Connecticut Champion Michael Tootsie Esquire hit the ring, disputing Banks and his claims. The NCW Original with the longest tenure, MTE believed that he was the superior being compared to the articulate one. Thankfully shutting up both men, Shya Shabo hit the ring requesting both men to shut their mouths. Pomfret rousingly agreed, as Shabo proclaimed that while MTE was the past, and Ken was the present-- Shya Shabo was most definitely The Future of NCW. The early goings saw MTE take the brunt of the beatings as he jammed his face into Shabo and Banks as they attempted to wrestle. After back and forth action from all three men, Banks hit a picture perfect DDT on Shya, guaranteeing victory until Tootsie slid in and tossed Banks into the ropes, tying him up long enough for MTE to steal the pin.

Up next Richard Pacifico challenged Cenobite for the NCW New England Championship, almost nine years since his last Title opportunity. Pacifico was looking for some revenge from The Big City Rumble, when Cenobite smashed Pacifico's face with his chain following a surprise elimination by Pacifico himself. Cenobite wasted no time, rushing the ring before introductions and brawling with the man from Snake Hill, New York. Pacifico fought right back however going toe to toe with the monster and never backing down. Eventually the New England Champion caught Pacifico right in the throat with a vicious chop, which took all the air out of the challenger as he gasped for breath. Even with this handicap Pacifico fought back, even hitting his huge "Cobra Slam" for a big near fall. With the ref not in view, Cenobite hit another chop to the throat and then slammed his masked skull into Pacifico for the win.

In their Grudge Match Challenge, Davey Loomis crossed the line when he faced "Textbook" Dean Porteau one on one, nearly tearing Porteau's knee in half. Early on "Textbook" dominated after being blind sided by Loomis. Porteau kept on yelling at Davey, telling him he didn't want this. After a devastating clothesline and suplex on the outside, "Textbook" brought Loomis back into the ring only to get drop kicked right in the leg, giving the amateur sensation the opportunity to maul Dean's knee without regard. Throughout the match Loomis became more and more cocky, until finally snapping and clinching in a figure four leglock to the ringpost, forcing referee Louis Rodriguez to call for the bell when Davey refused to release the hold. All the NCW Officials rushed out to pull Loomis off the hurt Porteau, but Davey snapped grabbing a steel chair threatening to smash it into "Textbook's" knee. Eventually he was calmed down by the Officials, as the crowd booed Loomis due to his actions.

Following intermission, where the crowd joined in a birthday celebration for NCW Champion Doug Summers, Summers went into the first NCW Title Match of the evening where he defended the gold against challenger Tim Kilgore. Kilgore did his best to outwrestle in the early going, as Kilgore's younger brother MTE joined the scene to root his fellow Tootsie to victory. After bailing to the outside, Doug assaulted The Fighting Tootsies with a plancha, and rammed his birthday cake into MTE's face for extra measure. Kilgore then took over the contest after utilizing his educated feet on Summers, messing up his equilibrium for the remainder of the match. After knocking the dazed Champion out of the ring, Kilgore prepared for himself to dive off the apron, but in a snap Doug snatched Tim's legs out from under him sending him crashing to the floor with his head making a sick thud to the apron. Unable to make the ten count, Kilgore was counted out giving Summers his victory.

The NCW Tag Team Championship was to be decided next, with the Tag Team Title Invitational III taking place. Champions The Maine State Posse went into action, defending their belts against The Winter Hill Gang, the team of Mike Volpe & "The Kreeper" Brandon Webb (w/ TAELER!), and Simultensity (this version being Rob "The Giant" Aruajo & Nick Westgate, who replaced an injured Ian Conley). Under elimination rules, Rob "The Giant" and Scotty Vegas collided in the culmination of their rivalry which began back in November. After a heated exchange between both tag teams, Aruajo picked up the biggest win of his NCW career, eliminating The Posse and guaranteeing new Tag Team Champions to be crowned at the end of the match. Unfortunately Simultensity were not counting on Clip O'Reilly & Sid Reeves, who immediately went to work on the underdogs, picking them apart piece by piece. In the end The Winter Hill Gang outsmarted the rookie tag team, finishing them off with a sick double team to eliminate Westgate & Aruajo. Down to Kreeper/Volpe and Winter Hill, Sid Reeves became mesmerized with Taeler at ringside, prompting the feisty female to grab Sid's baseball to protect herself. With their backs turned away from the action, Webb & Volpe jumped in to help their manager, with Volpe shooting into the ring witha a vicious superkick onto Reeves allowing "The Kreeper" to hit his patented moonsault for the pin and the Tag Team Titles!

In their final encounter, Jon Thornhill and Mike Paiva engaged in 2 out of 3 falls in an effort to finally put a cap on their rivalry that has been ongoing since last June when Paiva returned to action against Generation SLAM and Ruy Batello. With the first fall being evenly matched with both men knowing each other so well, Paiva became frustrated and brought a chair into the equation. After the ref already admonished "The Showoff" once, the former NCW President took it one step further and CLOCKED Thornhill out with the chair, drawing a DQ loss for himself. The sly Paiva knew what he was doing however when he took the limp Thornhill and immediately pinned him giving him an easy 2nd fall win. Unable to focus, Paiva went to the crowd and began shouting at them, while referee Alex LaBeaf checked on Thornhill. As Paiva went back for the final pin he was dazed by an inside cradle from Jon, getting the three count and defeating Paiva once and for all. An enraged Paiva went to work on Jon's hurt knee and ribs, but the former Tag Team Champion fired back, hitting "The Showoff" with a picture perfect frogsplash.

In the Main Event, Doug Summers returned to defend his NCW Championship against Davey Loomis, who was utilizing his Big City Rumble Title opportunity. Before the match, a disgusted Loomis grabbed the microphone from Marxxx, as he couldn't believe how easy his old school turned on him when push came to shove. When the fatigued Summers entered, Loomis wasted no time, suplexing him onto his head and decimating the reigning Champion. Loomis controlled nearly the entire match, suplexing and wearing down Summers. After a brief comeback, Doug once again got caught in Davey's clutches, eventually falling prey to the "banana split" submission hold. With the ref checking on Doug, "Textbook" made his way back to the ring, limping to the apron and distracting Loomis in the process. With Davey's back to Doug, Summers rolled him up into a schoolboy and getting the three count over Davey to retain the belt. From there all hell broke loose as Davey snapped, slamming Doug's body to the mat with a "kryptonite krunch". From there he mauled his friend, until the majority of the NCW Lockeroom poured out to break up the melee. Loomis had to be physically removed from the building, as the remaining NCW stars tried to help The NCW Champion to the back, book ending a startling conclusion to NCW's 11 Year Anniversary.

Big City Rumblings
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 03/13/2008

First off, Northeast Championship Wrestling and myself would like to wish Dan Tanaka the best and speediest recovery after having to undergo emergency surgery this past weekend in Worcester, MA. Dan had just completed a weekend of wrestling action, and the fatigued Tanaka was soon rushed to a nearby hospital where they realized he had been suffering a hematoma. Since joining NCW in 2001 Tanaka has been a road warrior with the promotion, never missing a date and even reffing entire shows by himself if duty called. We wish Dance Tanaka the best, and look forward to his triumphant return to the NCW rings.

Fans have shown their support for Dan's well being, stating such things as "Hopefully struggles like this will make you an even stronger person."
"Death tried to win. THEY FAILED."
"My computer has been down for two weeks."

If you would like to send your well wishes to the Senior Official of NCW, you may do so at letsdance!tanaka@thencwonline.net.

Though he's kept a low profile since being unmasked, Brandon Webb-- The Kreeper, promises that he has some unfinished business in NCW, and plans on taking care of it very soon. Webb had been slated for a New England Title Match based on his victory over Cenobite at NO FEAR, but due to prior booking commitments Kreeper had to pull out of The 2008 Big City Rumble waiving his Championship opportunity. Cenobite, quick to embarass his rival and take credit for his absence, announced that Webb would not be at The Rumble because of his unmasking and his shame and fear of Cenobite is keeping him away. Cenobite then declared HIMSELF the #1 Contender to the New England Title, and has challenged reigning New England Champion Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter to a match on March 22nd.

Bitts & Pieces: Big City Dreams
By Todd Bitterman; 03/01/2008

I <3 Rumbles.

It's that time of year and with this being my first Big City Rumble since joining the NCW staff I've never been more excited to cover an event. I mean who wouldn't want to be apart of an event so drenched in prestige and history, paying tribute to the best concept a wrestling promotion has ever had-- The World War 3 Battle Royal!

All kidding aside (sorta) this years Rumble looks to be the most stacked ever, but I'd be remiss if I didn't delve into the fabulous NCW tape library to chronicle the history of this NCW classic.

Though not much is said about the "dark ages" of NCW [1997-1999] it can't be denied that even from its humble beginnings NCW was unique in its presentation and style. 1998 saw the first Big City Rumble take place, and it's no shock that the massive Big Poppa Drunk walked away the Big City Rumble winner, weighing in at the 300 pound mark at that point. The biggest and the hardest to eliminate, The Drunkster outlasted every NCW competitor and was even slammed by Richmond Black during the match of attrition. Unfortunately Black was too worn out, and was tossed by the lumbering big man. BPD parlayed his success in The Rumble to a dominant reign as New England Champion, and eventually right to the Heavyweight Title which he won from Pacifico a little over a year later. 1999 saw up and comer Steve Taylor battle it out with previous winner Big Poppa Drunk in an epic struggle, but Stevie Too Sweetie outsmarted Drunk to victory. History shows that had ego not gotten in Taylor's way, he would have been a major player in NCW rather than a footnote.

2000 was NCW's coming out party so to speak, as people began to take notice of the hungry talent dominating the roster at the time. With the NCW New England Championship vacated and up for grabs in the 2000 version, Tim Kilgore saw fit to make his star that much bigger eliminating Pacifico and winning his first major singles Title thanks to help from manager Sean Gorman. Kilgore obviously saw this opportunity as a mere stepping stone, eventually winning the Heavyweight Title from Triplelicious at the 2001 Rumble just one year later. 2001 was the biggest Big City Rumble to date, with the cream of the NCW crop vying for a Heavyweight Title Match [this was the first year the Big City Rumble winner earned a Title shot]. With a variety of talent competing in the match, it was anyones to win with such star power as "Broadway" Kenn Phoenix, Johnny Curtis, Ruy Batello, The Elements of Suicide, KL Murphy, Chris Venom, and BATMAN rumbling it out. In the end Television Champion "Hollywood" Johnny Nash upset everyone, winning the contest by outlasting "The Portuguese Sensation" Ruy Batello and The Elements of Suicide to win. This would be Johnny Nash's crowning moment in NCW, as his star eventually faded following his NCW Title Match against Kilgore and losing the TV Championship to "Bad Boy" Billy Black shortly after.

Upon NCW's resurrection in 2005, the Big City Rumble returned with it featuring an ecclectic group of NCW's old guard in addition to the uprising of new and fresh talent. With many competitors debuting in The Rumble including Jon Thornhill and The Wisconsin Badger, it was perennial veteran Chris Venom who stole the show this year, eliminating Joey Grunge to earn his Title shot and using it to defeat Ruy Batello that following January at Silence the Violence V. It's definitely clear that winning The Big City Rumble means you're moving to the next level (unless you're Johnny Nash) and on your way to the top. Since 1998 out of the five Big City Rumbles, three went on to win Heavyweight Titles (albeit Venom's win was his SECOND Heavyweight Title), making it pretty good odds that a win in The Rumble is a win for your career.

Alex Chamberlin-- Suspended!
By TheNCWOnline; 02/25/2008

With the resignation of President Mike Paiva in full effect [pardon the pun] as of Friday February 22nd 2008, the NCW Executive Committee is handing down some serious levies and fines with "The Showoff" now out of office.

The biggest and most shocking fine from the front office by far has been the immediate suspension of one half of the NCW Tag Team Champions-- Alex Chamberlin! Chamberlin and tag team partner Scotty Vegas were originally fined back on November 11th at COLLISION COURSE, when the duo brutally attacked the young tag team of Simultensity following their Tag Team Title defense earlier in the night. The Posse hurt Ian Conley so bad that the rookie ended up missing NO FEAR due to his injured knee, and although Rob "The Giant" was able to find a replacement partner in the form of Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter Aruajo still came face to face (or something like that) with Chamberlin, who stopped him right in his tracks with a vicious DDT.

Following NO FEAR, NCW Officials went to collect the levies against The Maine State Posse, only to have Alex Chamberlin attack the poor paper pushers laying them out! Vegas & Chamberlin believed themselves to have a free ride in NCW with President Paiva in power, however with "The Showoff" stepping down as President, The Committee has seen fit to make an example out of The Maine State Posse-- And Alex Chamberlin in particular.

When asked for comment, a high ranking Official had this to say. "Effective immediately Chamberlin is suspended from active competition, and a decision is expected to be made regarding the NCW Tag Team Titles within the next few days."

NCW Season Rankings
By TheNCWOnline; 02/03/2008

How the Rankings work:
With the NCW Score Card the #1 challenger to the Heavyweight Championship is always the New England Champion, who holds the second highest ranking belt within the company. A (+) is for a win, while a (-) is for a loss. A (/) is for an inactive placement or advancement from the last NCW event. Rankings are NOT soley based on wins and losses.

NCW Heavyweight Champion: Doug Summers (+)

1.) Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter [NCW New England Champion] (-)
2.) "Revolution" Chris Venom (-)
3.) Jon Thornhill (+)
4.) Tim Kilgore (-)
5.) "The Kreeper" Brandon Webb (+)

The Heavyweight rankings are heating up as we head into March and the 2008 Big City Rumble, with everyone jockeying for position into The Rumble, and into a Title Match against reigning Champion Doug Summers. The Big City Rumble is the perfect opportunity to become a contender in one night, and shoot right to the top of the score card. Hunter remains in the #2 spot as NCW New England Champion, who has been strong in singles competition despite his tag team loss at NO FEAR with partner Rob "The Giant" Aruajo. Venom was denied his Title shot over Rob Impact in December, but remains a vital threat to Summers reign as Champion. Thornhill has been strong this NCW Season, but has only been defeating Mike Paiva-- Who was inactive for two years previous. Kilgore nearly beat Summers at the ICCW Tribute show January 26th, giving him a huge boost in the standings. Brandon Webb, alias of "The Kreeper", has been dominant this Season, remaining 2-0 in singles action despite his troubles with Cenobite.

NCW Tag Team Champions: The Maine State Posse (+)

1.) Generation SLAM (+)
2.) Simultensity (/)
3.) Emerald Fuzion (-)
4.) Pacifico & "Textbook" Dean Porteau (+)
5.) The Fighting Tootsies (-)

Even if it was for one night only, Generation SLAM did their thing and captured the #1 spot as well as the hearts of all their fans one more time. Gen SLAM cemented their legacy as the greatest tag team in NCW history when they defeated Emerald Fuzion in a stellar Match. Rob "The Giant" & Ian Conley remain in second after being bullied by The Maine State Posse, however their tag team hopes seem lost. Pacifico & Porteau made an impact, preserving the good name of Ox Baker in the process. The Fighting Tootsies never say die.

NCW New England Champion: Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter (-)

1.) Pacifico (+)
2.) Mister MTE (+)
3.) "Textbook" Dean Porteau (+)
4.) Mike Volpe (+)
5.) "The Showoff" Mike Paiva (+)

The New England Championship division is on fire, as everyone in the rankings has dominated over the last couple of months. Pacifico, the former three time Heavyweight Champion, has been impressive with a 3-0 record following his victory over Joe Dirt at ICCW's Tribute Show, while MTE somehow walked away with the promotions Connecticut Championship by reverse decision. From last year to this Season "Textbook" Dean Porteau has been unstoppable, and shows no signs of wearing down. Volpe impressed many with his win at NCW COLLISION COURSE, and looks to make a big impression at the 2008 Big City Rumble. The darkhorse contender, NCW President Mike Paiva comes in at #5 after defeating Rob "The Giant" Aruajo at the ICCW event in Plainfield.

ICCW Fallout!!!

DAVEY LOOMIS GETS INTRO'D TO PRIMETIME

Davey Loomis believed that January 26th would be his reckoning. Coming back from a serious knee injury is no joke, and when Loomis learned he was going to be having surgery following his NCW tag team match last May, he knew there was a chance he’d never return. Davey had originally hurt his knee in March during his amateur wrestling season, and while tearing through the competition the young Loomis was also tearing his knee to shreds.

Following NCW’s 10 Year REUNION, Davey learned of his injury but kept it to himself in hopes of working through the pain. It was during a tag match teaming with "The Punisher" Don Vega against The Original Kings Of Old School that Davey’s injured knee went from bad to worse when "Textbook" Dean Porteau viciously splashed his knee to the bone, tearing the ligament completely. That following Monday, Davey was set for surgery, keeping him out until at least November. In an effort to heal to as close to 100% as possible, Loomis opted to remain on the DL until January when he could return at the ICCW Tribute Show which was being held in the memory of his Grandma, Helen Loomis.

When Triplelicious & "Revolution" Chris Venom challenged any team from ICCW’s past to a match in The Loomis Arena, Davey knew this was the perfect chance to bring in a Plainfield legend and a man he grew up watching in the form of "Primetime" Randy J-- The former ICCW Heavyweight Champion. Randy and his manager Matt Burns were more than happy to help out Davey, almost too eager to take on the tandem of Venom & Trip after being away from the wrestling business for five years. The Showtime Posse came together this past Saturday night, and while Davey wrestled his heart out for his first match since May, it was crushed in an instance when "Primetime" flung Loomis into the ropes and nailed him with a devastating leg line, turning on him while helping their opponents to victory.

After being brutalized by the three men, a dejected Loomis did gain a measure of revenge on his former hero, laying him out with a side suplex after J outstayed his welcome at ringside. In the back, Loomis refused to talk with anyone, his eyes being opened to the harsh reality of the business. Who can you trust?

MURPHY’S LAW

ICCW was also a reunion of retired stars when The Showtime Posse, referee Ronald Riggins, and "The Heartbreaker" Ruy Batello all made in ring appearances despite being out of active wrestling competition. No appearance was more surprising however than the return of KL Murphy, who wrestled against Beast at Saturday night’s Tribute Show. Murphy, who is a former two time NCW New England Champion as well as a former EPW Television Champion arrived in ICCW in late 2000, striking up a heated feud with Batello himself. Murphy remained one of the most popular wrestlers in the promotion up until its end in 2001.

In 2006 after returning to the EPW rings, winning the EPW TV Title, and feuding with the likes of NCW Heavyweight Champion Doug Summers Murphy called it quits to follow other endeavors. Though he never ended up with Championship gold in ICCW, Murphy came close numerous times to becoming Connecticut Champion, while also feuding with the ICCW Tag Team Champions The X3 Rated Posse ("Broadway" Kenn Phoenix & Kid Krazy). Murphy looked to be in the best shape of his career when he stepped into the ring with fellow fan favorite Beast, and picked up an impressive win in a hard fought contest. Could a return to wrestling be in the near future? Or was this a one time shot? KL was coy with us following the show, and left us all wondering if KL Murphy could find himself back in an NCW ring down the road.

HEARTBROKEN

Ruy Batello has almost made a second career out of beating up Michael Tootsie Esquire, as he continues to throw out his pent up aggression towards his former tag team partner, who shockingly turned on his best friend back in 2002. Even in retirement Batello has brought pain and misery to Mr. MTE, silencing the former High School English teacher with his vicious "Ruination" at every turn.

For the ICCW Tribute, Batello agreed to a match in honor of Grandma Loomis, one of "The Heartbreaker’s" biggest fans, and decided to brush off his ICCW Connecticut Title for an old Title defense in front of the Loomis fans. Batello agreed to a match against MTE, which was backed and signed by one night Commissioner JC Marxxx. Despite MTE’s best efforts against the former two time NCW Heavyweight Champion Batello was able to silence Tootsie yet again with his "Ruination", although this time took it a step further by hitting him with it following the match for Grandma. Furious, JC warned Batello not to do it again, which only encouraged Lisbon’s [Connecticut] Greatest Son to hand out more "Ruinations" to not only MTE but to his brother Tim Kilgore as well. Incensed with anger, JC reversed the decision to Ref Dance Tanaka giving MTE a DQ victory but then dropped a bigger bomb when he announced the contract stated that Titles could change hands on Disqualification. Your winner and NEW ICCW Connecticut Champion- Michael Tootsie Esquire.

A proud and ecstatic MTE found himself energized and pepped in the back, realizing that for the first time in seven years, he was once again Champion. Even if it is a defunct Championship he won on a Tribute Show by Disqualification without actually doing anything but getting his ass beat. MTE was Champion.

THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME

Doug Summers found himself in a whole heap of pain at The Loomis Arena when Tim Kilgore strategically attacked the NCW Champion’s shin bone, applying pressure and hurt on Summers throughout their Heavyweight Title Match at the ICCW Tribute show. Though Summers was able to pull through and retain the Title, the damage had already been done as Summer limped himself to the car to make it back home to Carolina, RI.

President Mike Paiva did his best to insult the ICCW faithful in Plainfield, not only ripping on them but also poor Rob "The Giant" Aruajo, who playfully made tribute to former ICCW Tag Team Champion Duff during Paiva’s speech in the barn. Things broke down when "The Giant" realized he was being played by "The Showoff", leading to a match between the two. In the end the sneaky Paiva picked up a victory, which sparked Paiva to announce a very special upcoming announcement via TheNCWOnline.net in the coming weeks.

NO FEAR FOR NCW
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 01/25/2008

Northeast Championship Wrestling ended 2007 with a bang when it presented NO FEAR from the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taftville, Connecticut. The small but boisterous crowd enjoyed a huge night of wrestling, action, reunions, surprises, drunks, and more when Jon Thornhill took over the NCW Presidency for the show, guaranteeing a night of uncertainty.

Chaos began early, when Rob Impact made his way out during ring announcer Tommy D's introductions. Impact didn't waste time in requesting President Thornhill to make his way to ringside, which he quickly did. Rob talked about being the man who never quit, the man who wouldn't back down, but after June's Last Man Standing Match against Tim Kilgore he began to see the end of the road coming for him as a wrestler. Before he hung up the boots however, he wanted one chance to prove he could make it at the top, and wanted the chance to wrestle Doug Summers for the NCW Championship in Taftville. Thornhill, mentioning how both he and Rob got started together, agreed with Impact and used his Presidential power taking away "Revolution" Chris Venom's Heavyweight Title shot in the process. Venom was furious in the back, seen throwing bags and kicking best buds Paul Lombardi and Bryce Andrews right in the shins in a fit of rage.

In the opener, Frankie Arion took on the debuting "Russian Hammer" Mikail Kolloff, who bore a striking resemblance to a local New England psychopath. Before the match, he was asked about the likeness but said they were merely distant cousins. Kolloff welcomed the Taftville crowd to stand tall for his National Anthem, but was nearly booed out of the building during his beautiful rendition. Despite the difference in size Arion did not back down against the large soviet, doing his best to knock the big guy off his feet. Kolloff was wise to slow the match down, doing what he could to disarm the high flying Frankie. In the end Arion nearly won the whole match with a high cross body off the top, but Kolloff proved his worth by sneaking out a victory.

It was an impromptu Six Man Tag Team Match up next when "Revolution" Chris Venom teamed up with his Entourage of Bryce Andrews & Paul Lombardi against the trio of Cameron Matthews, Furio Falcone, & the debuting Clip O'Reilly. An odd team indeed, but all with the common aggravation of Venom and Co. The Entourage did their best to neutralize their opponents, doing what they could by singling out Cameron Matthews. After a big hot tag to Clip O'Reilly and Furio, the trio cleaned house on The Entourage, leading to an awkward "butt sexual" moment. In the end the unorthodox threesome of Furio Falcone, Clip O'Reilly, & Cameron Matthews picked up the win, with all three of them getting some parting shots on "Revolution", who was left lying in the ring while sulking.

Generation SLAM made their way out to the ring as Jon Thornhill wanted a chance to celebrate the one night return of best friend and tag team partner Timothy Pittman, who was back for the holidays thanks to Mike Paiva's presidential funds. Before the two could even begin their celebration they were interrupted by the trio of "Showoff" Mike Paiva, Jason Blade, & Mercedez... Emerald Fuzion. For the first time in four years they made their way to the ring, not losing a step in the process as they got right in the face of Gen SLAM. Paiva snatched the microphone from Thornhill, and mocked the reunion of Generation SLAM. Paiva talked about the return of Mercedez, and how though she managed Pittman and Thornhill, it was merely out of pity and that she was finally back where she belonged. Before things could escalate further Santa Claus made his way to the ring before revealing himself to be RUY CLAUS, who brought out a large bag filled with gifts. Ruy Claus reminded Paiva that he was still on the naughty list, while Generation SLAM was very good all year, promising them a great and special gift for the holidays. He opened his bag only to reveal AMBER, who was returning to the corner of her former tag team for one night only!! The girls nearly tore into each other, forcing Fuzion to leave the scene while promising an explosive contest later in the night.

Up next NCW Tag Team Champions The Maine State Posse were set to defend their Tag Team Titles against Simultensity, however it was pretty clear that Rob "The Giant" Aruajo was without his partner Ian Conley thanks to Scotty Vegas and Alex Chamberlin attacking Ian's knee at COLLISION COURSE. Rob's face of fear while looking forward to the potential Handicap Match quickly turned to a sly smile when he went back through the curtain to pull out his replacement partner for the evening- Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter! Vegas & Chamberlin flipped out on Dance Tanaka, but with Jon Thornhill giving complete authority to the officials, Tanaka allowed Hunter into the match. The New England Champion overwhelmed The Posse, until Chamberlin cut "The Giant" down to size, completely trapping him in the Champions corner. After controlling a long portion of the match Aruajo was finally able to make the tag to his partner, and "Hawkeye" opened a can of hick ass on Vegas and Chamberlin, laying them out all over the ring. Evan tagged Rob back in to set up a big double team, but as Hunter was whipping Aruajo over Scotty Vegas clawed at "Hawkeye's" leg dragging him under the ropes while allowing Chamberlin to hit another nasty DDT on "The Giant" for the three count.

During intermission, the crowd got to take various pictures with the stars of NCW as well as Ruy Claus. The crew were soon joined by a fun loving couple of Big Birds, who seemed to make their way to the ring to join in on the fun. As the wrestlers began returning to the locker room The Big Birds attacked Ruy Claus, double teaming them to the ground. Ruy Claus made the comeback however, unmasking the duo to reveal the nefarious Bryce Andrews and Paul Lombardi! Ruy Claus laid out the Entourage, leaving them in yet another awkward position on the mat.

Tim Kilgore and Michael Tootsie Esquire, The Fighting Tootsies, made their way to the ring next for their tag team match against "Textbook" Dean Porteau & Pacifico. Before the match began Kilgore & MTE (dressed with an Ox Baker like beard) insulted the legend and former trainer of Dean Porteau, likening him to a cartoonish Yosemite Sam. "Textbook" and Pacifico made their way out next, and immediately brought it to The Brothers Tootsie, dominating the duo. Mr. MTE still couldn't best Porteau, but eventually went down to one of Ox Baker's vicious "Hurt" punches while he hid on the outside. With MTE out cold, Kilgore was helpless against a devastating "Hurt Attack" for the loss.

It was then time for the big No DQ Match between Kreeper and Cenobite, as Kreeper looked to gain revenge over Cenobite for his months of torture. The beautiful Taeler was also looking for a measure of revenge, getting the brunt of the inhumane beat downs over the last few months. Cenobite wasted no time in going after Kreeper, but the high flyer was ready for the assault brining it right back to Cenobite full throttle. Taeler also took her shots at Cenobite, not holding anything back. After Kreeper & Taeler brutalized the monster, Cenobite took control of the situation viciously clotheslining Taeler taking her out of the game. From there the two men collided with malicious intent, hoping to end the others career. Taeler again returned to the scene, and against better judgment did her best to slow down Cenobite's rampage, even hitting him with a hurricanrana off the middle rope! Kreeper took the advantage off a dazed Cenobite, and was able to roll him through into a pinning combination, getting the upset win over Cenobite! A dazed and furious Cenobite through Kreeper to the ground and stalked Taeler, grabbing her and threatening to destroy her with his chain. Giving Kreeper the ultimatum of either unmasking, or paying the price in Taeler's blood. With no other choice, Kreeper unmasked himself to reveal himself to save Taeler. Kreeper & Cenobite went back to their brawling, as officials did their best to seperate the two.

Up next was the big ONE NIGHT ONLY Tag Team encounter with Emerald Fuzion w/ Mercedez taking on Generation SLAM w/ Amber for tag team supremacy. The action early on was more methodical, as both teams felt each other out. Blade and Thornhill tussled in the early goings, while Paiva and Pittman reignited their rivalry. The match constantly see-sawed back and forth as both teams jockeyed for position. Soon Blade & Paiva began to remember the team they once were, cutting Pittman off from Thornhill. In the end the entire match turned to chaos when Mercedez and Amber went after one another, brutalizing each other with chops. During this, Thornhill got caught by Fuzion's sick double team maneuver, with Blade powerbombing Thornhill right into Paiva's knees. Barely kicking out at 3, Thornhill needed a big assist from Pittman, who helped his tag team partner get Jason Blade out of the ring long enough to hit the Generation SLAM patented senton/frog splash combo for the win!! Gen SLAM celebrated in the ring, as a dejected and furious Emerald Fuzion left ringside carrying a hateful Mercedez from the building.

In the Main Event, Rob Impact challenged Doug Summers for the NCW Title, in what potentially may have been Impact's last match. Summers and Impact showed each other their mutual respect early on, doing their best to outwrestle the other. As the match continued with no clear cut aggressor, both men became more aggitated while taking certain shortcuts. This lit the powderkeg from there, setting off the two into a violent rage. Both men brutalized each other with stiff shots, trying to wear their opponent down for victory. Impact found himself kicking out at every turn, desperately looking to come out on top. As both men clashed, Summers found himself unable to hit his "beautiful disaster" with Rob dodging it at every oppportunity. After a vicious kick, Doug was able to hit a stunning brainbuster on Impact, keeping him down long enough for the three count. Following the match both men embraced in a show of friendship, with Summers wishing Impact the best in whatever he decides to do.
