Generation SLAM vs. Fuzion- When Worlds Collide
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 12/07/2007

It’s not everyday that NCW gets to make history.

But on Saturday night December 22nd Northeast Championship Wrestling does more than just that when worlds collide literally when Timothy Pittman returns from Japan to team with Jon Thornhill one more time, as Generation SLAM takes on the team of "Showoff" Mike Paiva and "Zero Gravity" Jason Blade-- Emerald Fuzion. When Jon Thornhill beat Mike Paiva at COLLISION COURSE to earn the opportunity to be NCW President for a day, no one could have predicted what would come next. Immediately on the heels of his victory, Thornhill wiped out all of Paiva’s presidential funds to bring his best friend and tag team partner back from the land of the rising sun, challenging "The Showoff" to a match at NCW No Fear in Taftville, Connecticut. His back pushed up against the wall Paiva had to go out and find himself a tag team partner, and rather than look within the confines of NCW itself, Paiva went out into his own past, pulling out arguably his greatest tag team partner ever in the form of Jason Blade.

While the differences between these two teams are greater than their similarities, both tandems rose to the top virtually out of nowhere, and immediately took NCW by storm with their high flying and colorful personalities. They were also both driven by the ladies in their lives, as Fuzion was formed with Mercedez in their corner while Gen SLAM had the backing of the lovely Amber in theirs.

"The Full Effect" Mike Paiva and Blade were both coming off stints with Yankee Pro Wrestling in the early months of 2002, and were both looking for a new place to branch out too. Blade had actually began his earliest days in wrestling with NCW, getting his first taste of a ring back in 1999 with the promotion while Paiva was a novice to the fed. With Mercedez by their side, they made an raucus debut at Silence the Violence IV when they took on the big dogs in town, Triplelicious & Chris Venom-- Zero Tolerance. ZT wanted to see if Fuzion could hang on their level, and that they did when they went toe to toe with the NCW Originals and nearly pulled out a victory in the end. NCW officials immediately took notice, and Fuzion found themselves in the midst of a budding rivalry with The Elements Of Suicide. At May’s WrestleFest, in only their third month as a tag team Fuzion upset EOS in spectacular fashion, winning the NCW Tag Team Titles from Cinna & Onyx at NCW‘s biggest show of the year. When NCW went on hiatus in the fall of 2002, Paiva and Blade were still Champions, and had moved onto other promotions as well utilizing their high flying style to their advantage. In 2003, the honeymoon was over however when Mike Paiva and Mercedez split from Blade during a PWF [Premiere Wrestling Federation] show, with Paiva showing his dastardly side to the masses. In their one recorded match, Paiva secured a victory over his former partner, however the duo never had an extended feud with Mike going into semi-retirement shortly after.

Emerald Fuzion debuts against Zero Tolerance @ Silence the Violence IV February 2002

"The Boy Next Door" Timothy Pittman and Jon Thornhill’s first night as a team was something of a lottery drawing, with them being randomly put together to take on the fellow random tandem of The Super Awesome Death Destroyers [The S.A.D.D], Doug Summers & Tim Kilgore, at a SAW event in upstate Vermont. Though they had both worked out together at The Karoba with The EOS and had some early training at Slamtech University, this was the first time the duo had worked together, and it was a thing of beauty as the two gelled immediately. The two worked so well together in fact, they entered themselves into NCW’s Tag Team Invitational at the original No Fear 2005 in Dedham, were new Tag Team Champions would be crowned with the former Champions-- Fuzion, forfeiting the Titles and disbanding back in 2003. In one night, with Amber by their side, Gen SLAM took the world by storm when they eliminated The Fighting Tootsies and The Maine State Posse to become Tag Team Champions and nearly blowing the roof off the Dedham VFW Hall. Generation SLAM then embarked on a tremendous Title reign, defending their Titles against all comers while being engrained in a bitter rivalry with The Posse. The Titles weren’t going anywhere until Jon Thornhill injured his ankle at NCW Silence the Violence VI, forcing him out of the match and leaving Pittman to fend for himself. In the end Scotty Vegas and Alex Chamberlin stole the belts from under Gen SLAM, and with their Titles gone and Amber leaving their side they had nothing left to lose. In May, Pittman & Thornhill rebounded by bringing in a new inspiration; None other than Fuzion’s old manager Mercedez! Following their loss in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match over the Championships, it was announced that Pittman would be moving to Japan for a year, essentially breaking up one of NCW’s most beloved tag teams. In a sad afterthought during Pittman’s last night in NCW, Mercedez shockingly no showed the event leaving Generation SLAM high and dry. Was it a coincidence that on the same night Mercedez no showed Mike Paiva returned to the ring after a two year absence to FACE Pittman and Thornhill?

NCW Tag Team Champions Generation SLAM [Jon Thornhill, Tim Pittman, & Amber] Silence the Violence V January 2006

I only ask because Paiva recently announced to TheNCWOnline.net that at No Fear when Fuzion reunites to battle Generation SLAM they will be bringing in another blast from the past when the gorgeous Mercedez returns to their side, One Night Only. This to me is a high stakes game of poker between Gen SLAM and Emerald Fuzion, and at this point I’d have to say that Mike Paiva is playing his cards very well. On Saturday night December 22nd, one night only… Psychological advantage, "The Showoff" Mike Paiva.

The worlds getting a whole lot smaller.

NCW Heroes: Four Months Ago...
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 12/07/2007

In June, NCW was left in a state of shock when the final bell rang at the Kramer Middle School for PAYBACK. It was a night of surprises when "Textbook" Dean Porteau stepped up to the plate and challenged Doug Summers for the NCW Heavyweight Title after winning the Lockeroom Brawl. It was a night of good-byes when Timothy Pittman prepared to leave for Japan, but not before living out his dream of teaming up with his idol Ruy Batello, who returned to the ring for a special Six Man Tag Team Match. The surprises kept coming when President Mike Paiva returned to the ring despite being retired, putting up a valiant fight with Scotty Vegas and MTE against Generation SLAM & Ruy Batello.

Four months later NCW kicked off its inaugural 2007-2008 Wrestling Season, a new hybrid of sports and entertainment with all roads leading to the biggest show of the NCW year, WrestleFest, this coming June. But what happened in those four months? Heavyweight Champion Doug Summers was nowhere to be found, exiled to nothingness. President Paiva, who hadn’t wrestled a singles match in four years, came out of nowhere taking Jon Thornhill to the limit and nearly beating him right in the middle of the ring while The Original Kings Of Old School, Derik Destiny & "Textbook" Dean Porteau, seem to be a relic of the past with Porteau on the verge of becoming one of NCW’s most popular stars. And what of Tim Kilgore? Where's Rob Impact?

Luckily my time traveling powers finally have some use.

It is a legit fact when Mike Paiva stated that Doug Summers was nearly killed following PAYBACK, when he narrowly walked away Heavyweight Champion after beating "Textbook" Dean Porteau in a contested and controversial battle. He was rushed downstairs so he could grab his bags, didn’t even have the opportunity to change and left out the backdoor to avoid a riot. Summers wasn’t deterred however, and was more than looking forward to returning to Willimantic to earn the respect of his haters. He was even willing to put his Title up against "Textbook" one more time.

Unfortunately President Paiva thought otherwise. After witnessing Doug Summers wrestling Mike Volpe at Volpe’s Memorial Show for his Mother, Paiva believed that if Summers walked back into Willimantic as Champion he wouldn’t make it out alive. Paiva then froze Doug’s contract, prohibiting him from any shows during the month of November, coincidentally the return month for NCW. Paiva then put Summers immediately on a plane to Dayton, Ohio, where he would remain to "scout talent" until November 15th, conveniently after COLLISION COURSE.

The experiment known as The Original Kings Of Old School is an interesting one. Originally intended to help Derik Destiny secure revenge on those who’ve done him wrong, Destiny brought the beast known as "Textbook" Dean Porteau back to NCW after a lengthy absence from the wrestling world. Together they did their best to bring old school back to NCW, even winning the New England Title from Doug Summers thanks to their "Old School Rules", which also allowed Porteau to defend the singles Championship. Gearing to make a run at the NCW Tag Team Titles along with their manager Tamara Moore, Destiny & Moore were unable to attend NCW PAYBACK, the same show where Dean became a literal hero when he won the Lockeroom Brawl to challenge Doug Summers for the NCW Title. Flash forward four months and both members of TOKOOS are in the house for COLLISION COURSE, but the team is not united.

Destiny (with Moore) took on Steve "The Turtle" Weiner while "Textbook" stood tall against the cocky and arrogant Michael Tootsie Esquire. Two men binded together who couldn’t be on more divergent paths, with Dean’s popularity growing more and more each day. Both men were seen using the same lockeroom however, showing no tension between them, yet why the disassociation inside the ring? Time will tell if "Textbook’s" popularity holds, but if it doesn’t will "The Old School Messiah" be waiting in the wings?

Tim Kilgore and Rob Impact engaged in one of the most brutal wars ever dating back to the first COLLISION COURSE in August of 2006 when Kilgore attempted to end Rob’s career following a suicide plancha. It wasn’t until PAYBACK that Rob finally got his final revenge on his rival, beating him in a Last Man Standing Match in spectacular fashion. Although Rob won the match, did Kilgore win the war? What was the true price of their rivalry, and did it cost them both more than they ever knew.

Kilgore originally stated he was going to save Rob Impact, but eventually it just turned into another Kilgore ego trip, looking for a stepping stone to get back to the NCW Heavyweight Championship. The problem however was that Rob Impact wouldn’t quit, and kept coming back at Kilgore tenfold. It wasn’t until their Stretcher Match at Pomfret Panic that Kilgore saw the true eyes of Rob Impact. He would never go away. When Impact challenged Tim to a Last Man Standing Match for the 10 Year REUNION, Kilgore skipped town, going down to Louisville to train at Ohio Valley Wrestling. When he returned amidst Rob’s feud with the monster Cenobite, Tim saw it as an opportunity to finish off Impact once and for all. In Willimantic Rob gave the fight of his life, finishing Kilgore off with a vicious swanton with Tim propped up by two steel chairs. In the end, Rob was the last man standing.

But where was he November 11th? Where was Kilgore? In the four months since PAYBACK many speculated that Kilgore may never be back, and that Rob had actually suffered worse injuries to his ribs than he let on, and the pain only got worse throughout the year during his matches with Kilgore and Cenobite. Knowing he defeated Tim decisively in their match, perhaps Rob felt it would be alright to return to the shadows to heal his wounds. Kilgore’s absence was revealed to be a newborn baby, however many believe it was just a way for him to avoid showing his face in the building where he was left lying back in June.

Mike Paiva is a patient man. Anyone who knows him will tell you that. He’s methodical and calculating, and he is always thinking of a backup plan in the event of failure. "The Full Effect" retired from wrestling officially in February 2005, right after he appeared at NCW’s 2005 REUNION in a Six Man Tag Team Match. Capping off a fun career on a high note, the former Emerald FUZION member was content to sink into the background forever. Or so we thought.

Paiva watched. Paiva waited, and when NCW held its election to bring a new NCW President to the promotion, Paiva struck. He wrote himself in as a nominee, and in an upset, defeated Michael Tootsie Esquire to become NCW President. Voted in based off his previous career with Jason Blade, and as a loveable fan favorite, Paiva showed his true nature when he turned on the local Dedham crowd and watched as Chris Venom screwed Ruy Batello out of the NCW Title.

President Paiva’s reign as the Chief of NCW began to slip through his fingers, and knowing he needed to garner support, Paiva began doing things the right way. He apologized for his past actions, he gave Evan Hunter a fair chance against Derik Destiny. He gave Generation SLAM the chance to get their Tag Team Titles back. He even said sorry to Ruy Batello. Unfortunately it was all a part of Paiva’s true design. Ultimate power.

At PAYBACK Paiva stepped into the ring as a replacement for Alex Chamberlin, and for all intents and purposes got his ass kicked by Timothy Pittman, Jon Thornhill, & Ruy Batello. Embarrassed, and overall enraged over his loss of power, Paiva went into training. From the moment he hit the back following the match, he knew he would need to gain revenge. Regain his footing. Regain his power. At COLLISION COURSE Paiva wrestled as if there had never been a retirement. A four year layoff from singles competition. Or a hint of ring rust. Even in loss Paiva felt the power coming back. At NCW No Fear Paiva continues his rise, when he reunites with Jason Blade to take on Generation SLAM one night only in tag team war. Regardless of the outcome, Paiva will patiently be waiting for his opening. His opportunity for power.

Mike Brito... Image Consultant?
By Todd Bitterman; 11/12/2007

Pyramid schemes run rampant in our society. Hell they've been around since the beginning of time. Didn't you hear the one about how Eve promised to double the amount of apples Adam would be able to eat after simply dropping down a thousand dollars of his own money and banishment from Eden? Either way, in a world filled with crazy knife selling scams and vitamin supplement trickery anyone could get roped into a pyramid scheme. Even in the wrestling world.

Especially in the wrestling world.

"Revolution" Chris Venom has been in NCW since 1999, and if there's one thing he loves it's a good partner. From PYCW to KL Murphy and Bubba to The Divine Legacy to Triplelicious Venom loves to have backup. The only problem with this is eventually he either turns on them, or they turn on him, or there is a lovers quarrel that blows up in his face and the cycle begins all over. Recently, since NCW's REUNION back in 2005, Venom aqquired a mad crew of associates ranging from Michael Sain all the way to Bryce Andrews, with a Fred Curry Jr. and Paul Lombardi thrown in for spice. While the arrangement worked for awhile, things soon went south following Venom's loss of the NCW Title back to Ruy Batello at the first COLLISION COURSE. In January, Venom went into a match with Bryce Andrews, dismantling him and finishing him off with his BTR. Three months later Bryce was back in Venom's corner, helping him try to win back the NCW Title from Doug Summers. A month after that Venom fought his longtime partner Paul Lombardi, for no other reason thank drunken American pride. This dysfunctional relationship was about to combust and the world was not ready for it. Or they just didn't care.

Enter life coach and image consultant Mike Brito. Brito literally came from the shadows, approaching the two time former Heavyweight Champion and offered Venom a chance to be happy with his old friends once more. Thanks to many classes and sessions, Venom once again began to trust in his teammates, practicing trust games and late night blindfolded activities to bring the crew closer together. Not to be Forgotten Lombardi & Venom began teaming again, even entering themselves in the NECW Tag Team Championship Tournament. The work Brito did with Andrews motivated him enough to go out and win the EPW Tag Team Titles with his old partner Mike Bennett. And while Brito wasn't there with them at ringside, he was there with them in spirit and in their hearts.

Oh, and in their wallets.

With about half of the inheritance Paul Lombardi's rich dead Uncle left him, the crew invested in Mike Brito's patented three step plan to make them millions in merchandise and revenue. Step one was to write him the check. Step two was to allow him to copywright and trademark the images and liknesses of them all, and Step three was to sign him up as their manager of record for in and out of the ring.

While the money hasn't been flowing in (yet), Brito has adjusted the image of Venom & Andrews at least for one show, showcasing their beach bods as The One Night Only Hasselhoff's, while also debuting Lombardi's very own T-shirt, fairly priced at $69.95. Whether or not Brito has earned his worth, he's at least tamed this group of frat boys... Temporarily.

Head On Collision: A COLLISION COURSE REVIEW
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 11/12/2007

It was an interesting start to the 2007-2008 NCW Season when Northeast Championship Wrestling returned to Kramer Middle School for COLLISION COURSE, a benefit for Windham Youth Football & Cheerleading. It was definitely the beginning of something new for the promotion, with many fresh faces and some notable absenses from the core roster of NCW competitors. But even without regulars like former NCW Champion Tim Kilgore and Rob Impact (rumor has it are still hurting from their injuries from their Last Man Standing Match), or NCW Heavyweight Champion Doug Summers (President Paiva sending him away for his own safety) the ragtag group of wrestlers gave 110% to gain some advantage during this groundbreaking Season.

The action actually began with a pre-show warmup when the debuting Shy Shabo took on Mike Volpe, the young man that took NCW Champion Doug Summers to the limit and beat him in the middle of the ring back in September at his Mother's Memorial Event in West Warwick. A nice back and forth encounter to set the tone for the evening, Volpe was able to pick up the win over the cocky, young upstart.

Tag Team action followed when the debuting Thom Kane and former NCW referee Bo "Wildfire" Melfi teamed up to take on the established veterans Chris Venom and Bryce Andrews, who had their image consultant and life coach Mike Brito in their corner. Apparently the right image to have in Willimantic was the beach look, as Venom & Andrews summoned the powers of Baywatch while "surfing" to the ring on their boogey boards. "The One Night Only Hasselhoffs" did their best to keep the newcomers down, but the young guns continued to fight back to their dismay. As Kane went for a chokeslam, Andrews was able to break free while Venom eliminated Melfi from the ring, setting Kane up for a beautiful pair of stereo superkicks for the win.

Mister Michael Tootsie Esquire arrived at Kramer School, looking for a chance to speak his mind. MTE proceeded to alienate himself from everyone in the audience, issuing his conduct cards to the fans. He then called out Willimantic's hometown hero, wanting to speak with "Textbook" Dean Porteau in the middle of the ring. MTE did his best to play psychological warfare with the big man, but in the end the "Intellectual Assassin" ended up looking the fool, scurrying from the ring while promising retribution later on.

"Old School" Derik Destiny made his way to the ring next, accompanied by his First Lady Of Old School Tamara Moore by his side. With a glitch in the music, Destiny ended up singing his own theme, classic Barry Manilow much to the chagrin of the crowd. Destiny's opponent then came out to a massive ovation, as Steve "The Turtle" Weiner made his return to NCW. With "The Turtle" playing mind games with Destiny, Derik never had a chance with Weiner's unorthodox style of wrestling. Weiner picked up a huge win over the former New England Champion, reversing out of a firemans carry into a rollup. Further video proof shows Destiny had his feet on the ropes, but unfortunately Dance Tanaka missed it while making the pin, much to the shock of the crowd as well as to Weiner himself.

In a high impact battle, Kreeper took on the debuting Furio Falcone in spectacular fashion. Before Kreeper and his manager Taeler even made their way to the ring the crowd was cheering for him, while booing the Furious Furio out of the building. Despite a great effort from Falcone, Kreeper picked up the win after a huge moonsault onto the soccer sensation. Following the match as Kreeper was celebrating, the injured Cenobite came in out of nowhere brutally attacking not only Kreeper, but Taeler as well. Throwing her to the ground Cenobite then pulled out his chain, smashing it into his skull. Kreeper's former tag team partner viciously attacked him, and when Taeler tried her best to help, she was victimized even more by the emotionless monster with a clothesline straight from hell.

Up next was the NCW New England Title Match with Champion Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter defending against "The Pinnacle" Paul Lombardi. Before the beginning of the match Lombardi introduced his manager and life coach, a man we had already met earlier in the evening Mike Brito, who once again brought out Chris Venom and Bryce Andrews as Lombardi's personal lifeguards. Brito wanted to tell us all about his new Lombardi merchandise, including his own Pinnacle T-shirts, only $69.95 via the NCW website (for some reason I am unable to locate this item on the NCW merchandise page). After awarding Lombardi his own Pinnacle Championship, Hunter made his way out running off Brito's crew. Once the match started both men began looking for the advantage, trying to outwrestle one another. After briefly taking control Lombardi began to see victory slipping through his fingers as "Hawkeye" made the comeback. Brito then tried to come in and eliminate Hunter, but instead belted Lombardi with his own Championship, knocking him out cold. Chris and Bryce tried to help, but ended up double superkicking Brito instead after Hunter dodged that bullet. From there Hunter took out both men, resulting in a massive amount of guy on guy action. Well moreso than on a normal wrestling show. With all four men piled onto each other Hunter merely put his hat on, one foot on top and scored the three count and the win to retain his Title.

Following intermission it was the battle of former NCW Heavyweight Champions as Triplelicious went up against Pacifico. The history between both men is the stuff of legend, with both men feuding with each other since 1998. As both men looked for an opening, it was apparent that despite their differences both men were much more alike then realized, as they wrestled a very even match. Trip was well aware of Pacifico's Cloverhitch, and did his best to get out of it at every turn. Finally after evading Trip's H-Cubed Pacifico cinched in his Snakehill Cloverhitch, leaving Triplelicious nowhere to go but tap city.

NCW Tag Team Champions The Maine State Posse made their return for the NCW Season in fashionable form, ready to defend their Titles against the underdog rookies Rob "The Giant" Arruajo & Ian Conley, together known as Simultensity. Unfortunately the numbers game would become a factor, as Alex Chamberlin and Scotty Vegas enlisted the help of Mike Brito and his goons to stay at ringside to keep an eye on Conley & Arruajo. This proved to be a distraction for the rookies, and The MSP took full use of the situation dominating over the youngsters. The young duo quickly rebounded however, utilizing their speed and agility to stun the Champions. Unfortunately with Ian distracted by Venom & Bryce, Vegas threw him out of the ring allowing Chamberlin to nail a vicious DDT onto "The Giant", enabling a victory for The Posse.

Up next was Mike Paiva's Presidential Challenge, as he stepped into the ring for his first singles match in four years. President Paiva was immediately booed out of the building, while Willimantic burst into cheers when Jon Thornhill made his way to the ring for their anticipated encounter. As both men tried to gain leverage, it was apparent that Paiva was more than ready this time for a fight with the former NCW Tag Team Champion. "The Showoff" saw an opening when Thornhill banged his knee, and Paiva immediately went to work to disable to high flyer. After wearing down Thornhill, the dynamic one began firing back hitting a beautiful top rope dive onto our esteemed President, while further damaging his own knee in the process. After delivering a brutal belly to belly on Paiva, Thornhill missed a corner splash while tying up his knee in the ropes. Paiva took full advantage, bashing in his knee. After getting clocked with a right foot to the face, Thornhill attempted to head up for his patented frogsplash only to have Paiva pop up and go for a top rope superplex. Thornhill fought back, but Paiva was able to hit with both men landing hard on the ring canvas. In a moment of brilliance Thornhill used the momentum from bouncing off the mat and hooked himself into Paiva locking him into a small package and the 1-2-3. A shocked Paiva couldn't believe the loss, flipping out and railing onto Thornhill's knee for further injury. Tanaka broke up the skirmish, but for Paiva it was too late, and Jon Thornhill will be NCW President for a day.

In the Main Event, hometown hero "Textbook" Dean Porteau went tooth and nail with Mister MTE, using his power to play with his opponent. Tootsie eventually took control, using his quickness to slow down Porteau's hard hitting offense. After missing a big splash in the corner "Textbook" slaughtered MTE with a three point stance, setting him up perfectly for a hard power bomb and victory. The kids from Dean's football team then rushed the ring to celebrate with their coach and hero, culminating an interesting night of wrestling action in Willimantic.

A "Textbook" Example
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 11/03/2007

A man of many names and personalities, for years he was seen as a wild Beast lost to the jungle while society wondered whatever happened to Dean Livsley. It wasn't until Derik Destiny took The Beast in and rehabilitated his injured shoulder that the true personality of this man began to form. While "Man's Best Friend" recovered from surgery, he began watching tapes from Destiny's old school library, studying and learning from the best of wrestling. This was all part of Destiny's plan, to utilize the former monster and make him a disciple of Old School, The Original Kings Of Old School.

Taking the last name of one of his favorites to watch, Dean Porteau returned to NCW and to wrestling at NCW's debut in Dedham MA, running in to assist the destruction of then Heavyweight Champion Ruy Batello. Porteau wasn't yet 100%, and was merely used as a device for destruction. But what destruction he caused, helping his mentor in victories over Afterburn in "Textbook" fashion while also assisting in Derik Destiny's victory over Doug Summers for the NCW New England Championship at the 2006 version of COLLISION COURSE.

In September at RUNDOWN, "Textbook" finally returned to the ring, competing in an over the top battle royal for the New England Title #1 Contendership. Used as a roadblock for any potential challengers to Destiny's Title, Porteau was impressive in the match until "Hawkeye" Evan Hunter willed his way to victory despite the interference from TOKOOS. "Textbook" got his first singles match at Pomfret Panic shortly after in November, fighting against one of New England's most underrated competitors in "The Punisher" Don Vega. Despite not having his partner in crime with him, Porteau gave 110% against Vega surprising many in the crowd. "Textbook" quickly began to show the potential of what he could be, and despite not winning he earned a lot of respect.

Porteau began the new year a few pounds heavier representing the NCW New England Championship under "Freebird Rules", defending the Championship for partner Derik Destiny against Evan Hunter. In typical TOKOOS fashion cheating eventually beat out sportsmanship, but "Textbook" did his part to keep down the rugged "Hawkeye". At REUNION, despite losing to The Kreeper, Porteau again put on an impressive display of wrestling and power once again providing another Match Of The Night candidate. In May Porteau and Destiny took part in a vicious attack on Davey Loomis and his injured knee, putting him in so much pain that TOKOOS became the catalyst for Loomis' surgery on his ACL. In just seven months time Porteau went from just a dominant bodyguard to serious threat, and if that wasn't impressive enough, June happened.

Coincidentally in front of his hometown crowd where he grew up, Dean went in an won an over the top battle royal (The Lockeroom Brawl) to earn a Championship Match against NCW Champion Doug Summers later in the evening. Just where Porteau started the previous September, it came full circle only with this time the big man coming out on top. The strong crowd reaction for Porteau was also something new, considering the type of wreslter he had become since his days as the fun loving if not all there in the head Beast. "Textbook" embraced his fans however and rallied against Doug Summers, effectively turning the popular Champion into a marked man in the midst of "Textbook" country. And after one big side suplex, it actually looked as if Dean Porteau had won the NCW Heavyweight Title. Further review by refs Dan Tanaka and Bo Melfi would show that Doug Summers actually had Dean's shoulders pinned for the three, but within one inch, Dean Porteau was nearly Heavyweight Champion.

With the new NCW Season upon us many wonder if Porteau can maintain the momentum of the last year, and if he could end up a Contender for gold sooner rather than later. I'll tell you what, if I was a betting man, you better believe I'd be betting on this MVP.

Bitts & Pieces: Head on COLLISION

The NCW Season is fast approaching, and I for one can't wait for it to get here. NCW is a second home to many in the area, and the return of NCW action is always a welcome sight. When COLLISION COURSE returns to the Kramer Middle School in Willimantic, CT on November 11th the atmosphere will be electric and off the charts, promising a memorable experience for all. The last time we were in Willimantic back in June perennial rulebreaker "Textbook" Dean Porteau recieved a hero's welcome when the local boy entered the Lockeroom Brawl Battle Royal and earned himself a match against NCW Champion Doug Summers in the Main Event. The fan refused to boo Porteau and in a turn of events only seen in Memphis wrestling the TOKOOS member was the favorite while usual good guy Doug Summers was booed out of the building. "Textbook" came within an inch of winning the NCW Heavyweight Championship at Payback, and would be cashing on a rematch November 11th if it wasn't for one thing...

Doug Summers won't be there.

Fearing the safety of the NCW Heavyweight Champion, President Mike Paiva has banned Summers from the building November 11th, and has even bought Summers a plane ticket to Dayton, Ohio of all places for the week of the show. When reached for comment, the noble President had this to say,

"In June Doug Summers was nearly killed by an angry mob of Willimantic morons when their hero Dean Porteau failed to win the NCW Championship. I had to use my own personal security to escort Summers out of the building and through the back to avoid serious bodily harm. On November 11th with so much at stake with the beginning of my NCW Season, I cannot afford for our Champion to get hurt. With that in mind I am sending Mister Summers on a special trip to Dayton for scouting of some potential NCW talent. Summers will be back in time however for our next event in December, so all you fans can see him then."

Ridiculous excuses aside, it will be interesting to see how "Textbook" reacts when he returns to the town he grew up in with tag team partner Derik Destiny by his side on November 11th. Porteau will have an opportunity to speak his mind however, when he is interviewed by former NCW Champion Tim Kilgore, who has requested a special interview segment at COLLISION COURSE.

Other big news on the street this week is that the monster known as Cenobite might not be as unstopable as we all thought. Early reports coming in say that Cenobite was injured last week in a Triple Threat Match in Rhode Island while preparing for his Triple Threat Match at NCW in Willimantic. After seemingly injuring his shoulder, Cenobite refused to stop the Match and continued his assault on the two unknown victims. Following the contest horrifying screams were heard from the locker area, bringing many to the conclusion that Cenobite's injury was worse than thought. Fearing further injury to Cenobite, and possible injury to his opponents President Paiva has cancelled the scheduled Triple Threat Match for COLLISION COURSE, a dissappointing but understandable decision from our fearless leader.

Presidential Address
By President Mike Paiva; 10/2/2007

Now that the Top 15 moments in NCW history have been revealed (with your President at the number 8 and number 1 spot), its time to make history again. The announcement of the ‘07-‘08 NCW Season being put into effect allows all of us here at NCW to rest, and to take a giant step forward in rebuilding and refreshing the NCW brand. It also allows your President to make some much needed, but tough decisions. Several talent from last years season have either moved out of the country, been fired, injured, or have retired. This leaves a giant hole in the NCW locker room. After the beat down I received at the hands of Generation Slam and Ruy Batello, I thought that the legacy of Mike Paiva - the wrestler, was tarnished. Only one of those three men is still active on the NCW roster. His name is Jon Thornhill. I can’t help but wonder what it would be like to wrestle Jon in my prime. As great as that would be this goes much deeper than that.

I’m talking about pride.

After two years or being away from in ring competition I felt that my work that night was sub-par at best. Given more time to train, I know could beat Jon one on one. So as the new season begins, I am throwing out a challenge to one Mr. Jon Thornhill. I want one more chance, one last time to prove that I can beat you with out a shadow of a doubt. And to make things more interesting, I will put up my Presidential duties for a day. That’s right, if (and that’s a big if) Jon Thornhill can beat me one two three in the middle of the ring, Mr. Thornhill will be Mr. President for 24 hours. I know Jon will read this and I know Jon will accept. Because of one thing. Pride.

Game On: The NCW Season Begins
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 10/2/2007

President Mike Paiva promised to revolutionize NCW upon his election into office back in Janurary 2006 and this November his plan will finally be implemented when the NCW 2007-2008 season begins for the first time when it returns to Willimantic, Connecticut at the Kramer Middle School for Collision Course. Believed to be Paiva's master plan in changing the NCW landscape while offering a way to maximize events and profits the NCW season would effectively begin November 11th in Willimantic and run through June where NCW WrestleFest would take place, culminating "The NCW year".

The obvious goal for every NCW wrestler competing is to be the top dog come WrestleFest whether it be as the NCW Heavyweight Champion or the #1 challenger for the Championship, but getting there won't be easy. With Doug Summers reigning as Heavyweight Champion and nearing his one year anniversary as Champ everyone is positioning themselves for a crack at the gold. Summers has been on an impressive streak since winning three matches in one night last January to win the gold, defeating Cenobite, Triplelicious, and Davey Loomis all in one grueling tournament. After wininng the Title Summers successfully defended the Title against NCW Originals Chris Venom and Trip while also holding back the challenges of Cameron Matthews, The Maine State Posse, and (barely) "Textbook" Dean Porteau. An impressive track record for the young Champion, but come November a whole new slew of challengers await Summers, coming at all angles.

A cagey NCW Original that Summers hasn't crossed paths with yet is Tim Kilgore, a former NCW Heavyweight Champion and perrenial contender. It's taken Kilgore almost three years to work his way back up to contention after NCW's REUNION in 2005, and even with a biting loss to Rob Impact in Last Man Standing Kilgore has the ability to shoot right up to challenge for the gold. Another darkhorse for Title contention this November is the big man "Textbook" Dean Porteau, who nearly walked away with the NCW Heavyweight Championship at NCW Payback, and has been called the MVP for the promotion since returning to the ring last November. Competitors like Jon Thornhill and the NCW Tag Team Champions The Maine State Posse have also thrown around their desires to potentially challenge Summers for the NCW Title, especially The Posse with Alex Chamberlin and Scotty Vegas still smarting from their loss to Summers & Davey Loomis at NCW Hostile Takeover in Pomfret back in May.

Speaking of the Tag Team Champions, after finally winning the Tag Team Titles from rivals Generation SLAM at NCW's 10 Year REUNION Vegas and Chamberlin found themselves without foils when Timothy Pittman left for Japan, effectively ending Gen SLAM and ending a feud that spanned nearly two years. With arguably the greatest tag team in NCW history gone, who steps up to challenge the Champs? It's an open slate and could be a great chance for a young up and coming tag team to strike while no one is looking.

Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter overcame plenty of obstacles from The Original Kings Of Old School en route to finally winning the New England Championship in a classic "Hog Tie Showdown", and now that he has the strap the challenges are sure to keep on coming. The young guns of NCW are all angling for an opportunity to become the #2 man in the promotion behind the NCW Heavyweight Champ, and a darkhorse for New England Champion may be Cenobite, a man who was fired in the beginning of the year, and brought back only at the request of Rob Impact. Impact and Cenobite engaged in some brutal matches over the course of the year, and both are looking for an opportunity at singles gold. Another star on the rise is The Kreeper, who has made a lot of waves since debuting last November and could strike at any time as a challenger for the Title. Michael Tootsie Esquire, the "Intellectual Assasain" has also been jockeying for another chance at Championship gold, and the last time MTE was Champion the Regan administration was finally winding down, so he may be due.

As the NCW Season begins many questions will arise as the promotion builds towards it's epic finale in June, and with the prospects of many new stars making their debut within the Season and potentially the return of a few favorites the 2007-2008 Season of Northeast Championship Wrestling may be the best ever.

The Top 15 Moments In NCW History
By TheNCWOnline; 8/05/2007

Over the course of the next month, NCW will take a look back into its history books as we chronicle the top fifteen moments in NCW history, in our own humble opinions.

There are some notable exceptions, but we figured mostly everything from 1997 until 2000 should be kept under the rug. And although the Randy J/Damian Houston is a classic we can't justify pandering to one person. The Damned doing their impersonation of Degeneration X was a tough omission as well as "Buttery" Bert Williams tremendous debut. And while we would never underscore Adam "Frigidare" LeClair's riveting victory over Mini-Marxxx for the LIFETIME NCW Hardcore Championship, it just didn't make the cut (lets call it #16).

But everything is open to interpretation, and feedback is always welcome at thewire@thencwonline.net as well as on the NCW Forum. So let's get to the list!

As NCW continued its quest for legitimacy in the fall of 2000 and into 2001, two men epitomized the new NCW and what it presented. KL Murphy and Tim Kilgore may have been cut from the same cloth, but definitely were not the same however. Kilgore was shown to be as opportunistic as possible, utilizing manager Sean Gorman to help him win the 2000 Big City Rumble and win the vacant NCW New England Championship. From there the over confident Kilgore began a reign of terror as New England Champion, holding the Title as if it was his own child. Murphy was a hard, working class wrestler, intent on doing the right thing and earning his victories rather than cheat. During the last months of 2000 and into 2001 both men accumulated an impressive winning streak, leading to an encounter at NCW Silence the Violence III at the Seekonk American Legion Hall for Kilgore’s New England Title.

Kilgore thought he was in the clear however when it was announced that KL Murphy would not be competing due to a head injury suffered at the hands of Bubba The Supreme Punching Machine. Kilgore than goaded trainer Mad Dog Matt Storm into a brawl, which only caused more headaches for Tim when Storm brought out KL Murphy, who was ready and cleared for action. A dazed Kilgore could barely keep up with Murphy’s onslaught, and in the end it was a simple small package that allowed KL to win the New England Title for the first time. Victory was short lived however when the following month Kilgore used Gorman and a trusty batch of powder to regain the Title from The Murph. Furious over Kilgore’s cheap tricks, Murphy challenged Tim to one final match between them- A Last Man Standing Match for the Title. A cocky Gorman accepted for Kilgore, and the match was set for WrestleFest II.

The match itself was brutal and unforgiving, as both men risked everything to have the Championship as their own. At one point in the match the entire building went silent as Kilgore went to spear Murphy, only to have KL move out of the way at the last second hurling Kilgore right into the nearby wall. In the end Kilgore brought a chair into the ring, with the thoughts of ending KL’s career at the forefront of his sadistic mind. Attempting to set up a kryptonite crunch onto the chair Murphy was able to wiggle out at the last moment, and stood up with all his strength piledriving Kilgore right onto the steel chair. Unable to make it up for the 10 count, Murphy was declared the winner and the two time NCW New England Champion.

When Scotty Angel returned to the position of NCW Commissioner in August 2001, he had no idea how dangerous the job had become. Sure he had dealt with Zero Tolerance in the past, and he had even overcome being beaten to a pulp by The Damned. But with the violent threats of The Elements of Suicide and a new sadistic version of Zero Tolerance in his midst, Scotty Angel knew he was in over his head.

At NCW’s Five Year REUNION Angel made a rousing statement to the NCW fans, talking about the need for someone to stand up to the plate and be a hands on Commissioner. With that in mind Angel welcomed back a man who was no stranger to NCW, and no stranger to Zero Tolerance when he handed over his duties to the former NCW Heavyweight Champion Richmond Black.

Black had been retired since February 2001 and had no plans to ever return to wrestling, until of course Angel came calling. "Scotty had told me what had been going down, and thats all I needed to hear. I’ve lived that life. I was apart of the original ZT, and I knew what they’re capable of. I had no choice but to come back." And come back he did, as Commissioner Black waged war with not only JC Marxxx and Zero Tolerance but with The Elements of Suicide as well, restoring order to a chaotic promotion.

NCW had returned earlier in the year after a prolonged sabbatical, and after a couple of receptive shows NCW needed to prove it was back for good. NCW NO FEAR was that event, and helped officially usher in "the uprising" of new talent to the promotion.

From top to bottom this event showcased the young guns at the forefront. From Davey Loomis destroying former NCW Heavyweight Champion Pacifico in record time to the team of Generation SLAM winning the Tag Team Championship in the first ever Tag Team Title Invitational, and to Doug Summers and "Hazard" Paul Hudson tearing down the house in the Main Event with Summers winning the first singles Title in his career, this was THE show for the new NCW.

It might not seem like much on the small scale, but when you take a look at the big picture this one single moment set events in motion that would forever change young Kenn Phoenix and bring him straight to the WWE to win the WWE Tag Team Championship and become the current Kenny Dykstra.

Kenn debuted in NCW alongside brother Mike at NCW’s Four Year Anniversary, with The Phoenix’s picking up a big tag team win in a match against the debuting Playa’s Club. After winning a Tag Team Battle Royal at WrestleFest II AND winning over the dangerous Stretcher Crew, The Phoenix Brothers were primed for a run with the NCW Tag Team Titles. That is until Kenny did the unthinkable and shockingly turned on his older brother at NCW Payback, joining up with "The Mouthpiece Of The East" Sean Gorman after costing his team a match against Legion Cage & Rain. Dubbing himself "Broadway" Kenn Phoenix, the Cain to his brothers Abel left his older sib in the dust not missing a step as a newly formed singles star. "Broadway" shined bright in rivalries with Michael Sain, TJ Richter, and KL Murphy, and eventually moved on to a brilliant tag team with Johnny Curtis (another developmental talent) known as The Talent Exchange. When he moved down to the WWE’s developmental territory OVW, the young Phoenix had years of experience and a big edge on the competition.

And all thanks to being the backstabbing, conniving brother that he was.

The Elements of Suicide had entered NCW in the early months of 2000 with great fanfare, and immediately took the promotion by storm after holding their own against The Damned, establishing themselves in the process. Originating from the suicidal alleyways of Flatbush Brooklyn, and moving to the docks of New Bedford to hone their craft as the founders of Suicide Championship Wrestling, "The Hardcore Element" Onyx and "The Suicide King" Cinna prided themselves on their commitment to wrestling and their blood oath they took inside the mysterious Karoba. When they won the NCW Tag Team Championship from The Stretcher Crew at Payback 2000, EOS seemed ready to take the whole tag team world by storm until one thing finally got in their way.

Greed.

Tempted by the promises from "Revolution" Chris Venom, Cinna did the unthinkable when he turned on his partner and pealed away the fatigues and the battle worn armor to become "The Divine Nemesis". As a member of The Divine Legacy, Cinna kept himself hidden from his former partner, ducking him at every turn because he was fully aware of the punishment Onyx could dish out. At NCW’s WrestleFest II, Cinna had no choice but to battle his comrade once more, and they did in a brutal hardcore war. When Onyx finally defeated Cinna, the question then loomed. What’s next? Neither wanted to admit it, but truth be told each man fed off one another. Their energy, their spark if you will. Cinna nor Onyx would ever let down their guard enough to tell the other, and would rather walk the Earth in misery then swallow their pride to show they needed each other.

One man knew that, and would no longer sit in darkness to watch his friends torture themselves. Luke Gemma was an SCW founder, and as crazy as a man could be. He was a guiding light in SCW and to The Elements of Suicide, and yet when The EOS went off into the world of the independents, Gemma didn’t say much and watched as his friends fell to the greed of the business. On August 9th, 2001 Gemma appeared at NCW Aftermath, surprising a bewildered Cinna during his match with Johnny Curtis. Cinna & Gemma left the building together, and would return later that night. After challenging Onyx, the truth would be revealed, as The Elements took their frustrations out on NCW referee Chris Santone and reunited in the middle of the ring while Gemma blamed NCW for EOS’ breakup and SCW’s demise.

From there the link was reformed. The Stretcher Crew, Billy Braxx, and Rukkus all rejoined their leader in their underground cult, and was even able to bring Gina Marie into to their fold. There personal war with the promotion sparked loyalty within the group of NCW, and unlikely heroes emerged to the forefront; The Damned, "Hollywood" Johnny Nash, and most notably the tandem of Ruy Batello and MTE who somehow became the most popular tag team in NCW after being the most hated only a month earlier.

In the end though this war ended just as abruptly as it began. The catalyst? What else but greed of course. Not wanting to deal with the onslaught he suffered throughout the Fall of 2001, JC Marxxx paid off Cinna & Onyx, giving them just enough to not "need" their SCW alumni anymore but enough to still need each other. At NCW Silence the Violence IV EOS took the remians of SCW and finished off their partners in crime, a scene reminiscent of only a year earlier when EOS originally broke up. Only this time Cinna and Onyx were standing side by side, with greed in both their eyes.

It was as simple as "Revolution" Chris Venom, a man primarily known as a tag team wrestler and former NCW Tag Team Champion, challenging the reigning Heavyweight Champion "Big Poppa Drunk" Sean O’Callahan to a match at NCW Silence the Violence II in North Providence, RI. Venom had no momentum going in, besides the backing of manager Sean Gorman and his "main squeeze" Gina Marie, and yet the atmosphere for this Title encounter would set the tone for the rest of the NCW year, and perhaps the rest of its existence.

Venom came to NCW as apart of the PYCW clique and immediately won the NCW Tag Team Titles with partner Dave Champion, and was always regarded as the best wrestler within the group of renegades, but up until StV II no one really took Venom seriously as a singles contender. Before the start of the event Venom stormed the ringside area with Gorman and Marie, and demanded an opportunity from Commissioner Scotty Angel. Not one to look over the credentials of Venom (especially considering Angel’s former alliance with the PYCW group) Angel agreed to the contest despite it’s "rule breaker" vs. "rule breaker" shades of gray, and the Main Event was set.

Big Poppa Drunk, a herald of the olden age of NCW, made his way into the JJ Dillon Hall with his Power League posse with an aura of confidence surrounding him, not even realizing what was to come. Venom did his best to work around the behemoth, yet despite his best efforts couldn’t outmuscle the monster. After attempted interference from not only Gorman but Gina Marie as well Venom shocked everyone by hoisting up the 360lbs beast and slammed him with a vicious Samoan Drop. Before he could make the cover however the match was broken up by The Damned drawing a No Contest from referee Mike Dutch. As Mad Dog & Draven did their bidding for JC Marxxx, Venom snuck out of harms way and stole BPD’s NCW Heavyweight Championship, claiming it for his own.

"A Revolution Has Been Born" the cocky Venom stated shortly after, and he wasn’t wrong. Amid the chaos of the situation, Big Poppa Drunk quit the promotion vacating the Title in the process. Despite him returning by the end of the year, O’Callahan was never the same and was gone again as quickly as he returned. Although Triplelicious was crowned the new Champion in the wake of the Title vacancy Venom still called the belt his own, and would eventually wrestle the Championship away from Trip in November of 2000 ushering in a new era for NCW, marking a turning point in his "Revolution".

Although the years 1997-1999 have been mainly stricken from the ledger of NCW history, one defining moment remains, strictly due to its impact on the promotion over the last decade. Since their debut in NCW back in 1997, Richmond Black and Triplelicious had been at war with one another. Friends since the sandbox (did they have sandboxes in the ghetto?), Trip and Black used the ring as their outlet for punishment, battling each other on all fronts. In the Spring of 1999, Black finally achieved his goal of becoming NCW Heavyweight Champion by beating his longtime foe in the middle of the ring at the inaugural WrestleFest following a brutal No Disqualification Match.

JC Marxxx, Trip’s manager, had already become increasingly frustrated with Trip’s lack of focus. Triplelicious had traded the NCW Title back and forth with Richard Pacifico in the early months of the year, and Marxxx felt that Trip just couldn’t get the job done anymore. After "dropping the ball" for the final time at WrestleFest, Marxxx left Trip high and dry leading into NCW Spring Slam where Black would be set to defend the NCW Title in a friendly competitive match against "Big Poppa Drunk" Sean O’Callahan. Marxxx had made propositions to both Black and O’Callahan to join him, but neither made any commitment. At Spring Slam when Marxxx showed up at ringside, a furious Trip made his way down to stop JC from interfering. When it looked as if Big Poppa Drunk was about to turn to assist Marxxx, Black nailed a huge "Big Black Drop" on BPD, laying him out. Special referee Shane Simons called the whole thing off, as Trip entered the ring and helped Black put the boots to BPD. Simons then joined in the fun, nailing a vicious leg drop on O’Callahan leaving him out cold on the mat. JC welcomed Black into the fold, and revealed that he & Trip never had any issues, and were just using it as a cover to fool everyone. Richmond Black held the NCW Title close to him, telling everyone that he did what he had to do in order to remain The NCW Champion, no matter what..

And with that, Zero Tolerance was born.

Hail to the chief!

Upon NCW’s return in 2005, Commissioner Richmond Black announced that due to personal commitments he would be unable to return as the promotions spokesperson, although did agree to stay on as a member of the Executive Committee. With the position vacated, NCW announced it’s 2005 Presidential Election in an attempt to bring a new Ambassador in to be the face of the promotion.

An eclectic group of candidates were selected, ranging from JC Marxxx (a former NCW Commissioner) all the way to "The Iceburg" Sonny D (a wonderful relic from the NEWA bygone era). Michael Tootsie Esquire, a "ladies man" and former New Bedford HS English Teacher threw his name into the hat, and former NCW Tag Team Champion Mike Paiva was also randomly selected as a nominee. Rounding out the list was former LIFETIME NCW Hardcore Champion Adam "Frigidare" LeClair, and when the ballots opened the votes began to pour in.

Despite doing his best to rig the vote JC Marxxx was blown away by the numerous votes for Mister MTE and "The Full Effect" Mike Paiva and in a landslide, the former Fuzion member was elected to office and would be sworn in at NCW Silence the Violence V in Dedham, MA. Paiva made his way to the ring to welcome himself back to NCW proper, and with drink in hand completely took all the goodwill built during the election and threw it out the window. "The Full Effect" immediately turned on the crowd, coming off as an insincere prick who was only in it for himself. Quick to establish himself as a man with no friends, Paiva pissed off not only The Maine State Posse and Generation SLAM, but also pissed off the entire building of fans when he did nothing to stop "Revolution" Chris Venom from cheating his way to the NCW Title that evening, despite The Prez being at ringside to watch the proceedings.

Since then Paiva has made more enemies than friends, and has recently set his sights on Jon Thornhill who gave him the beating of a lifetime at NCW Payback. To the fans who voted back in 2005, I bet you wish there was a recount now!

Ten years is a long time.

There’s no question about it, a lot can happen in ten years and a lot can change. For the majority of the last decade however there has been one constant, and that constant has been the name NCW. The fact that a small group of kids from High School could coordinate a wrestling league with intricate storylines and competitors and air it on public access television for all to see was impressive enough (then again, have you seen what’s on public access?), but the fact that it actually grew into one of the shining alternatives on the New England wrestling scene is something of an epic milestone in retrospect.

Watching an NCW show from 1999 and then watching a tape from 2000 is like seeing night and day. Watching footage from Natick in 2001 and then catching a show from the Bristol VFW in 2002 is like you’ve gone from black & white to color. And no show defines how far NCW has come more than NCW’s 10 Year REUNION from the Rochester Memorial School in Rochester, MA.

It was a classic show based on the groundwork that originated way back when, as hometown hero Rob Impact welcomed everyone to the event benefiting the Kinsky Family, who had lost all their possessions in a fire a couple months prior. Before Rob could run down the rest of the historic card Mister Michael Tootsie Esquire (and "NCW Original" from the first roster in 1997) interrupted, and put his foot where his mouth was while trying to insult Impact. Rob delivered a vicious spear setting the tone for the night, a night where anything could happen.

Not only a night of uncertainty, It was also a night of celebration, as new NCW Tag Team Champions were crowned when Scotty Vegas and Alex Chamberlin finally achieved their quest to become Tag Champs after a year in a half of feuding with Generation SLAM’s Tim Pittman and Jon Thornhill. It was also a night of the "REUNION MOMENT" as former two time Heavyweight Champion Ruy Batello showed up to save Davey Loomis from a good old fashioned Zero Tolerance beat down, hitting a beautiful "Ruination" on his former rival Triplelicious. It was also an unofficial changing of the guard as NCW Champion Doug Summers clashed with his former trainer and "NCW Original" Chris Venom for the Championship. Though Doug was already the Champion he was pegged the underdog against the former two time title holder, and in a battle of wits as well strength Summers was able to hit his "Beautiful Disaster" for his personal vindication.

In the end though it all came down to that hometown hero again, as Rob Impact was thrown into a huge roadblock against the monster Cenobite, who was recruited by MTE and his brother Tim Kilgore to ensure Impact would be unable to compete against Kilgore later on. In a Non-Sanctioned battle both men gave into the pain and put their bodies on the line, but after some timely backfired interference from Mister MTE Rochester’s own was able to hit a beautiful swanton bomb for the victory, much to the delight of the lively crowd.

It was a night of fun and a night of memories for NCW, as well as a night of accomplishment as the promotion raised $1400 for the Kinsky Family. All in all I’d say it’s a pretty big milestone when you look back to those kids hanging out in the backyard.

NCW is always evolving, and always transcending what it was before. From its underground roots to its transformation into a developmental promotion for the new breed of New England wrestlers, NCW was and is always searching to better itself as a product.

On March 31st, 2001 NCW made its debut at the Natick American Legion Hall for its 4 Year Anniversary event and in a flash of promotional synergy, the reigning NCW Heavyweight Champion "Revolution" Chris Venom stood proud in the middle of the ring, putting down the critics and declaring NCW THE place for the young up and comers of the area. The cocky Venom, with his Divine Legacy in his corner, then challenged his trainer and proverbial "guiding light" Mad Dog Matt Storm to a singles contest to once and for all prove that NCW was not just a developmental territory, but a true legitimate promotion on the rise.

The chaotic contest rocked the Natick Hall, with Mad Dog’s partner Draven, The Divine Legacy, Onyx, AND former Heavyweight Champion Triplelicious all getting involved to try and keep things in the ring fair. In the end it took some trusty help from Don Juan DeSanto, but after a vicious "BTR" the NCW Champion scored the pin taking the victory anyway he could.

Despite his bravado and cockiness, Venom was the figurehead of NCW and brought the promotion into a new era of legitimacy, setting events in motion that have brought us here today.

Tag Team wrestling in NCW was just about done when it returned from its hiatus in 2005. The NCW Tag Team Champions Fuzion had moved on to different things with Jason Blade becoming a singles star and Mike Paiva moving into retirement. The Elements of Suicide, arguably NCW’s most prominent tag team, had also retired during NCW’s sabbatical. The odds on favorite to win the vacated NCW Tag Team Championship in Dedham came down to either the young high flying team of Afterburn, or the Brothers Tootsie Tim Kilgore and MTE. Two other teams had signed up for the match, and unknown tandem from Bangor, Maine utilizing the old moniker The Maine State Posse as well as Jon Thornhill, Tim Pittman, & Amber- known as Generation SLAM. Thornhill and Pittman had only teamed one other time in a one shot appearance for Slam All Star Wrestling, and hardly had any experience in an NCW ring, let alone together. When the match was set and ready not much fanfare was made, and the state of tag team wrestling seemed to be in limbo because of it.

Then the magic happened.

People say it was the right place at the right time, and whether that’s a true statement or not it cannot be denied that when Generation SLAM won the NCW Tag Team Championship that night, it was a moment no one will ever forget. The crowd was electrified when Tim Pittman battled out of MTE’s vicious front chancery to senton him not once, but twice to eliminate the veteran team. Coming down to the two rookie teams, the building became unglued as Alex Chamberlin and Scotty Vegas decimated "The Superfan" while his partner looked on. After finally getting the big tag, Thornhill was a house of fire taking down both members of The MSP, leading to a fabulous plancha to the outside after spring boarding off of Pittman. When Thornhill cinched in his "Thornylock" on Vegas, he had no place else to go but tap city as the Dedham VFW exploded with cheers as referee Zac Carter handed the Titles to the new Champs.

Gen SLAM remained at ringside for a good 10 minutes following the match celebrating with the fans, signing autographs and taking pictures as the trio became overwhelmed with the reactions from the crowd. It was a fantastic match with incredible atmosphere, and single handedly saved tag team wrestling in NCW.

Ask anyone and they will tell you that "The Portuguese Sensation" Ruy Batello was without a doubt the heart and soul of NCW, and that an NCW without Ruy Batello would never be the same. Grown from the underground, the man once known as John Pimentel was the persevering "hardest working man in wrestling" coming off a serious stomach disease in 1999 working his way right into the hearts of the wrestlers and fans alike with his unique personality and everyday man persona.

After creating a perfect odd couple tandem with Michael Tootsie Esquire Batello eventually challenged and won the NCW Heavyweight Championship in an epic contest against rival Tim Kilgore. After winning the Championship Batello became the standard bearer for the promotion, and held the Title straight through until NCW’s sabbatical in 2002. When NCW returned in 2005 Batello was right there standing tall, defending the belt against all comers.

It wasn’t until Silence the Violence V that things went south for The Sensation, when "Revolution" Chris Venom used the assistance of Paul Lombardi and The Original Kings Of Old School to help screw Batello out of the Heavyweight Championship, all happening with President Mike Paiva right at ringside.

Heading into NCW COLLISION COURSE Batello announced that he would be retiring at the event regardless of what would happen, and requested one final opportunity to face Chris Venom for the NCW Title. Against his better judgment Paiva agreed, only to have Ruy give Paiva one big "Ruination" for luck. When it came time for the Match (which was made No DQ) Ruy took on not only Venom but also Bryce Andrews and Paul Lombardi, who tried to help out their "Revolution". In the end Batello hit a beautiful DDT onto the Championship belt, giving him his second Heavyweight Title victory. In the end the NCW Lockeroom poured out to celebrate with their friend and mentor. After being interrupted by Paiva (AGAIN!) and him receiving SUPER "Ruination" (AGAIN!) the wrestlers gave Ruy an emotional sendoff, lifting him on their shoulders as the crowd waived good-bye to their hero.

That’s not just great, that’s sensational.

NCW’s return in 2005 was something of a surprise, as many believed NCW would never return following its hiatus in 2002. The announcement had been months in the making, and when NCW presented its 2005 REUNION from the West Warwick Elks Lodge all the questions seemed to be answered.

Doing it months before ECW’s One Night Stand, NCW’s REUNION brought back some of NCW’s prominent stars while incorporating a new uprising of talent who would populate the promotion and bring it into the beyond. The opening contest brought back former 69 Degree member and current hip hop phenom Paul Hudson, who took on newcomer Doug Summers. Despite Summers losing, everyone was impressed with the singles showcase Summers provided, heralding him as a future Champion. Psychics I tell you.

The NCW Television Championship and the NCW New England Championship were unified at REUNION when "Bad Boy" Billy Black barely defeated Michael Sain to unify the belts. Despite unifying the belts this would be Black’s final NCW match, when he would not make the 10 count at NCW’s Big City Rumble losing the New England Championship to "Hazard" Paul Hudson.

The REUNION of Zero Tolerance was short lived when the trio of Derik Destiny, Mike Paiva, & Timothy Pittman (w/ Mercedez) took on Triplelicious, Tim Kilgore, & MTE in Six Man Tag action. Not only would this match feature the return of butt sex, but also would be "Superfan" Tim Pittman’s first match in the promotion he grew up watching. This would also be Paiva’s final match until this past June, when he returned in competition for one night only despite being NCW President.

In the Main Event it was NCW Champion vs. PWF Champion when "The Portuguese Sensation" Ruy Batelllo took on Jason Blade in a Match of past vs. FUTURE. With perennial manager Sean Gorman watching both athletes at ringside, both men beat the hell out of each other with Blade showing signs of attitude against the loveable Batello. Following a disappointing double count out, Batello gave Blade a post match "Ruination", which the crowd didn’t seem to mind at all as they welcomed NCW back to the New England world with open arms.

The Uprising is something that’s been thrown around a lot in NCW since it’s return in 2005, and for good reason with all the new talent that had circulated in since REUNION. One of the shining examples of The Uprising was Doug Summers who debuted to much fanfare back at REUNION and eventually won the NCW New England Championship from rival "Hazard" Paul Hudson at NCW’s big debut in Dedham, MA NO FEAR. With the company’s secondary Title in possession Summers embarked on a quest to prove himself as more than a skirt wearing tag team wrestler, and did just that until his untimely loss to Derik Destiny at NCW COLLISION COURSE. But with loss comes experience, and Doug used that experience to position himself into the NCW Heavyweight Title Tournament to crown a new Champion after Ruy Batello’s retirement and relinquishment of the Title back in August.

The site was Warwick, RI and at Silence the Violence VI Summers went through three grueling matches en route to becoming the new NCW Heavyweight Champion before a packed house at the Columbus Club. After nearly getting by Cenobite in the Quarterfinals and outsmarting Triplelicious in the Semis, Doug walked into the Finals to compete against his friend and peer Davey Loomis in what could’ve been considered his greatest test as a singles competitor at that time.

In a brutal, physical encounter which saw both men pull everything out of their arsenal Summers was able to out maneuver the amateur collegiate and hit his second attempt at "Beautiful Disaster" to pin his friend and win the NCW Heavyweight Championship, leading The Uprising into a new day.

There’s been a lot of moments that we’ve covered in this article that may be argued as "THE" moment in NCW’s long ten year history, but while sifting through the years of memories there is own moment that shines through and one moment that defined what NCW was all about. Emotion, heart, sportsmanship, good versus evil, continuity, and the birth of a new star are all rolled into one when you look back to NCW’s Five Year REUNION. The setting was simple, with Zero Tolerance nearly buckling under it’s own ego as Triplelicious and "Revolution" Chris Venom argued in the middle of the ring based off their own rivalry one week earlier in the same building during a PWF-Northeast event. Trip had blindsided his tag team partner, laying him out following their match together. Now in NCW, both men weren’t letting up until JC Marxxx diffused the situation with the one thing all three could agree on, money.

As the trio made nice, the popular Ruy Batello & MTE arrived on the scene to gain some revenge on their counterparts, but before they could even make it into the ring they were sideswiped by NCW Champion Tim Kilgore who came from behind with a steel chair taking out both men. With the help of Larry Huntley & Maniacal Mark, they tied Batello up to the ringpost as everyone took turns brutalizing Ruy’s tag team partner and best friend. It was visceral as each man took turns hitting their finisher on the broken Tootsie, all while the sadistic Marxxx screamed at his cousin. Broken an battered, Kilgore blasted MTE’s head onto a steel chair with his inverted pedigree not once, but twice leaving him unconscious. Finally a group of wrestlers headed up by Tag Team Champions FUZION [Jason Blade & Mike Paiva] arrived on the scene to run off Zero Tolerance, but the damage had been done. A teary eyed Batello checked on his fallen friend, and vowed a measure of revenge later in the evening when he openly challenged ZT and Kilgore to a Six Man Tag Team Match.

When Kilgore and Zero Tolerance entered the ring for the Main Event the Bristol VFW was abuzz with electricity, everyone on edge with the uncertainty of what would happen next. The Ring Announcer announced the Tag Team Champions, who had the lovely Mercedez by their side. Waiting on the outside for their third, the crowd exploded when "The Portuguese Sensation" rushed the ring with Tim Kilgore set in his sights. Kilgore, like the coward he is quickly ran from Batello, allowing Trip and Venom to take the brunt of the beast’s attack. In fact the entire match Kilgore did his best to avoid Ruy, only getting his shots in when it benefited him.

After a huge tag to Batello the big man lit up attacking everyone on all ends until all that stood in his way was the NCW Champion. After a brief back and forth Batello unleashed a vicious "Ruination" on Kilgore, pinning the Heavyweight Champion right in the ring to win the match. New Commissioner Richmond Black entered to celebrate with his friend, and made a historic announcement that Ruy Batello would take on the Champ one on one the next month at NCW WrestleFest III, in Ruy’s first ever Title opportunity. We all know how that story goes, but it was on this night that history began.

Heavyweight Title Heatwave
By TheNCWOnline; 7/29/07

During NCW’s summer break, the NCW Heavyweight Champion Doug Summers wasn’t sitting around the backyard sticking his feet in the kiddie pool (although he admits there was a lot of that happening as well), he was out looking for competition. Doug got it when he returned to the rings of New World Wrestling on Saturday night to take the challenge of the cocky Cameron Matthews in an NCW Championship Match.

Summers made his NWW debut back on April 28th at the Moose Lodge in Attleboro when he and Chris Venom competed in a sanctioned match for NCW under the New World banner. With the NCW Title Match being well received among the NWW promoters, they were happy to offer Summers an open contract for when they returned July 21st. Excepting the open contract was Cameron Matthews, the former 69 Degrees band mate of "Hazard" Paul Hudson, and a man who hasn’t been seen in an NCW ring since January of 2006.

"It was the perfect opportunity for me to slip in the back door of NCW," said Matthews shortly afterwards. "If I would have gotten a fair shake against Dog Summers, I would have been on top…. Of the NCW mountain."

Despite Matthews cockiness Summers proved to be the better man on this night, engaging in a tremendous Title encounter, with both men pulling out all the stops. After nearly killing Matthews with a sick piledriver on his skull, Cameron shot back and nearly took down the Champ until Summers regrouped and nailed a dazed Matthews with his "beautiful disaster".

Bitts & Pieces: Generation OVER?
By Todd Bitterman; 7/29/07

Generation Over?

With Timothy Pittman leaving NCW active competition to serve as an international talent scout, the future of the other half of Generation Slam is up in the air. Aside from his debut match against "Hazard" Paul Hudson on April 9, 2005, Jon Thornhill has been a tag team competitor here in NCW. He has always had someone on his side, whether it be his former manager, Amber, or Generation Slam’s final manager Mercedez. It would appear that Thornhill is going to have to stand alone for the first time, now that Pittman is gone and Mercedez is MIA. With Thornhill on his own, he has a hard road ahead to rediscover his place in NCW. It is no secret that Thornhill has found wrestling success all over the United States, and there is little doubt that Thornhill will once again be at the top of the mountain here in NCW. Only time will tell what lies ahead for Jon Thornhill in NCW.

Thornhill is NOT Clark Kent, and isn't fooling anyone

Where Do We Go From Here?
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 7/29/07

Following the climax of a great finale, people always wonder- What’s next? Despite the final Harry Potter book finally on the shelves and the end of The Sopranos, people everywhere continue to speculate on what would be next for these cultural icons. Despite WrestleMania being the biggest event in the wrestling world, many look towards the next night on Monday Night RAW to see if any new stars debut, or who the next challenger to the WWE Championship will be.

On June 9th when NCW presented Payback at the Kramer Middle School in Willimantic, a chapter in the story had ended when Timothy Pittman said good-bye to NCW when he teamed with his best friend Jon Thornhill and his idol the retired "Portuguese Sensation" Ruy Batello in his Farewell Match, Rob Impact finally gained revenge on rival Tim Kilgore defeating him in a Last Man Standing Match, and Doug Summers proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was the real deal as NCW Heavyweight Champion.

But as the dust settles and a new horizon dawns, the question remains the same. Where do we go from here? During NCW’s Summer hiatus President Mike Paiva has remained silent regarding the future of the promotion and plans under his watch, although he did mention the close eye he’s been keeping on Jon Thornhill during the downtime, even teasing that Paiva may once again don the wrestling boots to challenge Thornhill to a singles match.

"Thornhill is a great wrestler, no doubt about it. And he’s been doing his best to move on without his little buddy Tim Pittman to kick people in the head. He’s been turning heads around the area, even winning the EPW ’Ringside Rush’ last month. But without Ruy Batello or Pittman by his side, little Johnny Thornhill is prime for an ass kicking that’s been coming to him for a long time," Paiva boasted. "Maybe I’m the one that needs to give it to him."

Since winning the NCW Heavyweight Championship at NCW Silence the Violence VI in January, Doug Summers has done everything in his power to earn the respect of his peers and be the greatest NCW Champion ever, taking on all challengers. Most recently taking back the challenge of Cameron Matthews at a New World Wrestling (www.newworldwrestling.com) event, Summers has proven himself in Title defenses against former champions Chris Venom and Triplelicious, all the while solidifying himself as one of NCW’s biggest fan favorites, save for one encounter with hometown hero "Textbook" Dean Porteau in Willimantic. With an array of hungry talent looking for a chance to be the top dog in NCW, could a new threat rise up to challenge Summers for his NCW gold? Another wild rumor going around has former two time NCW Heavyweight Champion Ruy Batello, who made a one night return at Payback to team with Gen SLAM, make a return to the ring to challenge the current Champion for dominance. Batello does still have possession of the original Heavyweight Title and never officially lost the belt following his retirement last year. Could "The Portuguese Sensation" represent the old guard in war against The Uprising and Doug Summers?

With the blood war between Rob Impact and Tim Kilgore finally finished after nearly a year in battle, how will the two move on from their violent experience? The former NCW Heavyweight Champion has always had a knack from rebounding from great loss, as experienced from his previous Last Man Standing rivalry with KL Murphy where he eventually rebounded and won the Heavyweight Title from Triplelicious. Kilgore could also begin teaming again with his cocky collegiate brother Michael Tootsie Esquire, who shares his siblings penchant for inserting foot into mouth. As for Impact? The world is his for the taking at this point in his career. The feud with Kilgore no doubt changed Impact, putting him in places darker than ever before. But this has done nothing but give him an edge in his future matches, proving that his never quit attitude will pay off in spades down the road.

2007 has been the year of new faces at the top of the heap, with New England Champion Evan "Hawkeye" Hunter (who defeated TOKOOS kingpin Derik Destiny at REUNION) and Tag Team Champions The Maine State Posse being prime examples. With these fresh faces at the top of their divisions, who will be next to rise to the occasion?

It is my hope that the remainder of the NCW calendar year brings even newer faces to the forefront, as NCW has always been about elevating and cultivating new talent in the New England area, dating back to 2000 when "Revolution" Chris Venom literally burst onto the scene to change NCW forever. But until then, we just sit and anticipate the next chapter and wonder "what’s next?"

Get Well Davey
By TheNCWOnline; 6/12/07

"It's been a tough time", said amateur sensation Davey Loomis, just days removed from serious knee surgery that will keep the collegiate out of action for at least six months. Loomis was at ringside for NCW Payback this past Saturday in Willimantic, and he was visibly frustrated about being on the sidelines while his friends got to compete in the ring.

"Wrestling is my life, and to have to sit here and watch is the most frustrating expierence ever."

Loomis injured his knee only a week before National competition, yet still competed without complaining once. He continued to compete despite the injury, notably at NCW's 10 Year REUNION against Triplelicious. In May following a doctor's visit, Davey learned he would be going into surgery in late June to repair the torn ligament. "I didn't want to tell anyone, I didn't want to stop." Davey continued wrestling up until May 25th in Warwick when he & "The Punisher" Don Vega took on The Original Kings Of Old School in an impromptu tag team match. With word going around about Loomis' injury, Derik Destiny and "Textbook" Dean Porteau took advantage of the situation, signaling in on the injured leg and ripping it to shreds. Following the match, and following further examination, Davey's surgery was moved up to June 1st to repair the damage done. In surgery it was revealed that TWO tendons were torn, and that Davey had been essentially wrestling as a one legged man.

With surgery behind him, and only days removed from the operation, Davey has been hard at work gaining enough mobility in his leg to bend it completely. "As of today I can bend it 40%, by next week I want to be at 90%," the cocky but proud Loomis stated. "Doctors are saying I should be walking again in about eight weeks. But I give it four if that."

This reporter isn't betting against him. Get well soon Davey!

Payback's A Bitch
By Bud "The Man" Shurwalter; 6/11/07

The 2007 version of Payback may go down as the oddest night in NCW history. On a night where Timothy Pittman wrestled his final match before leaving the United States for Japan, a night where Tim Kilgore and Rob Impact capped off a brutal year long feud with Impact being the Last Man Standing, and a night where not one but TWO men returned to the ring from retirement, it was "Textbook" Dean Porteau who made the biggest splash winning the NCW Locker Room Brawl in his hometown of Willimantic to become the #1 challenger to Doug Summers NCW Championship, and to become the biggest fan favorite in NCW, even if for only one night.

The night kicked off with the first ever NCW Locker Room Brawl, with the winning man earning a Title Match later on in the night. Both former Champions as well as hungry newcomers entered the match looking for an opportunity at the Main Event. Entrants in the match were former NCW Champion Pacifico, one half of the NCW Tag Team Champions Scotty Vegas, Chico Suave, former Heavyweight Champion Triplelicious, Eric Atlas, The Kreeper, Johnny Primer, Louis Rodriguez, Rob Impact, Cenobite, The Masked Ninja, former NCW Champion Tim Kilgore, "Hazard" Paul Hudson, assistant to Paul Lombardi "Steve", and hometown hero "Textbook" Dean Porteau, coming out to one of the biggest reactions ever in NCW. The match was chaotic as every man went at it for themselves, and it wasn't until the ring began thinning out that Kilgore took his shot at opponent Rob Impact, eliminating him from the Brawl. An enraged Impact came back into the ring, and nailed a devastating plancha to the outside in his efforts to get his hands on Kilgore. Unfortunately Kilgore bolted from the scene, leaving a group of others to take the brunt of Impact's impact. The final four came down to Trip, "Hazard" Paul Hudson, Chico Suave, & Porteau. As Trip and Hudson eliminated each other, Suave and "Textbook" traded monsterous blows wearing the other down. With Dean eventually tied up in the ropes, Chico went for a high knee only for Porteau to move out of the way. Dazed, Porteau sent Suave sailing over the top. With the overwhelming support of the crowd, "Textbook" was now set to challenge Doug Summers for the NCW Championship later in the night.

The Masked Ninja returned to the ring, a mysterious competitor who was picked up thanks to Tim Pittman's international talent exchange, and made his presense known in NCW immediately looking for anyone to challenge him and his amazing ninjitsu skills. Answering the call was former Heavyweight Champion Richard Pacifico, who has been making somewhat of a small comeback since returning to NCW in May at Hostile Takeover. As The Ninja circled his prey, Pacifico finally had enough nailing a massive headbutt into The Ninja, "doing it for America". Pacifico then cinched in his "Texas Cloverhitch" for the easy submission victory.

In singles action, the deranged Cenobite went up against the popular Kreeper, who had the Willimantic crowd solidly behind him. It was a game of cat and mouse as Kreeper did his best to out-manuver the menacing Cenobite, as Cenobite ravaged the high flyer. After missing a huge moonsault, Cenobite was able to capitalize, finishing off Kreeper with his TKO. Following the match, adding insult to injury Cenobite attacked Kreeper with the chain, laying him out.

"Hazard" Paul Hudson returned to NCW, making his first appearance since REUNION, this time taking on the fancy one, Triplelicious. Trip attacked from behind to gain an early advantage on the former New England Champion, but it wasn't long before Hudson's quickness caught up to Trip dazing the cagey Puerto Rican. After a vicious kick to the face Hudson was able to nail his inverse DDT, getting the fans off their feet as P Haz sealed it with a beautiful hang ten legdrop off the top rope.

Timothy Pittman & Jon Thornhill made their way out next, as they took a moment to reflect on nearly two years together as Generation SLAM. Thornhill thanked Tim for the memories, and prepared to announce their dream match only to be interrupted by Mister MTE. MTE began trash talking Gen SLAM, as MTE's feelings on Tim Pittman are well known. MTE brought out Scotty Vegas, who made sure to keep Alex Chamberlin at home to ensure the NCW Tag Team Titles could not be defended in their dream match scenario. President Mike Paiva quickly arrived on the scene to break up the pow wow, only to cut down Generation SLAM himself. The President, noticeably smelling of liquor, declared that Tim & Jon's dream match would actually be a nightmare as he would come out of retirement for one night to team with Vegas & MTE 3 on 2 against Generation SLAM. Pittman was quick to rebound, stating that he already brought someone in tonight to be their tag team partner, his idol and the man he grew up watching in NCW, "The Portuguese Sensation" Ruy Batello! Batello made his way out chasing the trio out, and setting up Timothy Pittman's last match.

After nearly a year, the culmination of Rob Impact and Tim Kilgore's war finally came to head with Last Man Standing. Rob Impact wasted no time in dominating over Kilgore, the first time getting his hands on him since January before Kilgore left for Louisiville Kentucky. Both men did their best to wear each other down in order to win the 10 count. After taking it outside, Kilgore controlled things once they returned to the ring, although Impact's WILL NOT DIE attitude kept coming through. After bringing a chair into the ring he missed a blind charge sending him sailing right into a big boot from Impact. Rob then took Kilgore and rammed his head into the chair that was wedged between the ropes. Impact then brought in ANOTHER chair after wailing on Tim, setting him up on the chairs, and slamming him with a vicious swanton off the top. As Kilgore barely tried to get up his head smashed into the chair, incapacitating him long enough for Referee Bo Douglas to count the 10, finally giving Rob that big victory.

Former two time NCW Heavyweight Champion "Revolution" Chris Venom arrived on the scene next, looking for his next challenger in his "Superman Challenge". Answering the challenge on this occasion was Dan Freitas along with Amber, making his NCW debut. Freitas was on fire against Venom, firing at him with a wide array of moves to upset the former Champ. The member of PRIDE gained some huge momentum after fighting out of Venom's clutches, but after missing a huge spinning sault "Revolution" capitalized hitting his Back To Reality for the duke.

Six Man Tag Team action was up next, as Generation SLAM & Ruy Batello took on the trio of President Mike Paiva, Scotty Vegas, & Mr. MTE. Despite not wrestling since NCW's 2005 REUNION, the NCW President proved he still had some gas in the tank, as the former Tag Team Champion led the current co-holder of the belt Scotty Vegas and the former New Bedford High English Teacher MTE right into the fire not missing a beat. On any other night these three may have dominated the action, but on this night Gen SLAM had the inspiration of Ruy Batello by their side, as this triad proved why they are three of the most dominant men to ever enter an NCW ring. Pittman, Thornhill, & Batello systematically dismantled their opponents, despite a few flurries of dominance by the rule breakers. In the end MTE fell victim to a vicious "Super Ruination" onto Jon Thornhill's knees, leading to a triple threat of sentons allowing Timothy Pittman to get his final pin on rival Michael Tootsie Esquire. Afterwards Gen SLAM and "The Portuguese Sensation" celebrated with the Willimantic crowd, giving "The Superfan" a proper send off.

A Tribute To Pittman

In the most surreal moment in NCW history, challenger "Textbook" Dean Porteau entered the Kramer Middle School to a huge ovation, literally turning the NCW Heavyweight Champion Doug Summers into one of the most hated men on this night. Despite being one of NCW's most popular fan favorites Summers embraced the boos of the Willimantic fans, who had decided early on that their hometown hero would be THE man. The match went all over the Middle School, with the smaller Summers doing what he could do disarm the former Beast. After a big side suplex, referee Dan Tanaka counted Doug's shoulders down for the three, although referee Bo Jackson (on the outside) saw that Dean's shoulders were actually down. Tanaka awarded Dean the NCW Championship, only for Jackson to come in disputing the pinfall. After a long conversation with Ring Announcer Tommy D, Tanaka reversed the decision giving back the Championship to Summers. In retribution Porteau hit a vicious spear on Summers, much to the delight of the crowd, who celebrated with "Textbook" despite his Heavyweight Title loss.

In the end the Willimantic crowd enjoyed a great night of action, and helped raise over $500 to the Windham Youth Football and Cheerleading league!

Sayonara Tim!
By TheNCWOnline; 6/05/07

Although the rumors around the watercooler here at TheNCWOnline.net have been swirling for weeks, word has officially come down from the front office that former NCW Tag Team Champion Timothy Pittman has accepted an International NCW contract that will send him over to Japan for a year in an effort to scout local talent while also hone his intense combat skills.

Where does this leave Generation SLAM? After a disappointing "victory" at Meltdown President Mike Paiva has offered the departing Pittman and his tag team partner Jon Thornhill one final "Dream Match" as a thankyou for the last two years of memories. What will Generation SLAM have in store for June 9th in Willimantic? For The Maine State Posse, Payback's a bitch.

A Meltdown Of Epic Proportions
By The Southern Skeleton; 6/05/07

Talk about a wrestling show! NCW’s Meltdown blew into the Columbus Club in Warwick, RI on May 25th like a refreshing breeze off the Atlantic Ocean, leaving the large and lively crowd satisfied. From top to bottom, Meltdown featured the best up-and-coming wrestlers, as well as some seasoned veterans thrown in there for one heck of a jambalaya! In addition to providing a fun, family-friendly night out, NCW also helped raise $300 for the Tiffany Renee Desisto fund, helping to offset costs caused by a car accident that cut the life of a college student tragically short.

The opening match saw The Kreeper with Taeler team up with Pacifico to take on the team of Chico Suave and Johnny Primer. This match was an example of NCW giving up-and-coming wrestlers an opportunity to showcase their skills and a chance to possibly climb up the ladder into title contention, as well as giving returning wrestlers a second chance to make their mark in NCW. At "Hostile Takeover" in Pomfret, CT on May 5, former NCW Champion Pacifico made his return to NCW after an absence of 18 months, with an impressive yet unsuccessful attempt to defeat the debuting Chico Suave. Teaming with The Kreeper, who was fresh off a victory over "Textbook" Dean Porteau at 10 Year Reunion and accompanied to the ring by the lovely Taeler, Pacifico was able to get back on track as his team defeated Chico Suave and Johnny Primer. Johnny Primer was last seen in NCW close to a year ago, and put forth an impressive performance, however he was not able to overcome an onslaught of offense set forth by The Kreeper that ended with a Piledriver, Moonsault, and Spike DDT. As always, Taeler brought delight to the crowd with her beautiful looks and energetic performance at ringside, and her new spandex shorts stand out as one of the most wonderful sights this southerner has ever seen.

Next, NCW President Mike Paiva greeted the fans and called out former NCW Champion Ruy Batello. Showing sincerity, Paiva apologized to Batello for past wrongdoings, namely when he sabotaged Ruy’s reign as NCW Champion prior to Ruy’s retirement from active competition. Ruy accepted his apology, the two shook hands, and then Batello got on the microphone and spoke from the heart about how raising money for the Tiffany Renee Desisto fund was the most important part of Meltdown. This showing of respect was interrupted by Mr. MTE, who made his way to the ring handing out "Conduct Cards." A former school teacher, Mr. MTE wrote down things that he found unacceptable on official "Conduct Cards," which he passed out to crowd members that broke his rules, such as "wearing a visor indoors." The Conduct Card passed out to Ruy Batello was for "Being a Glory Hog and a Jerk." As former Tag Team Championship partners, Batello decided to grant MTE one last official act as his friend, that being to walk out of the ring instead of beating MTE into unconsciousness. However, once Ruy’s back was turned, MTE went on the attack, eventually setting up Ruy for his own signature move, Ruination. Batello was able to counter out, blast MTE in the head with a vicious kick, and then give MTE the most vicious Ruination ever seen.

Next came an open challenge issued by Don Vega, who was set to face GA West. GA was not able to appear at Meltdown, however after Vega issued the open challenge it appeared "Textbook" Dean Porteau was ready to step up and face Vega in a rematch from a previous match they had in Pomfret, CT. Dean was accompanied by "The First Lady of Old School" Tamara Burke, and as the two slowly made their way to the ring, Dean’s partner in the Original Kings of Old School Derik Destiny snuck into the ring and attacked Don Vega from behind. A two-on-one beating ensued until Connecticut amateur wrestling standout Davey Loomis hit the ring to end the beating. The Original Kings of Old School tried to escape back to the locker room, but Don Vega and Davey Loomis dragged them back into the ring and a tag team match began. After an impressive showing by Loomis and Vega, the Original Kings of Old School were able to isolate Loomis’s knee, which they began to tear apart. Loomis was able to fight back momentarily, however "The First Lady of Old School" Tamara Burke took off her high heeled shoe and slipped it into the ring, where it was smashed over the head of Davey Loomis. With Davey in a daze, Dean Porteau slapped on a Figure Four Leglock, which pressured Loomis’s shoulders to the canvas for a 3 count. After all was said and done, Loomis had to be carried back to the locker room, with an unsettling clicking sound being made whenever he moved his knee.

A New England Title Match was up next, with champion "Hawkeye" Evan Hunter taking on Frankie "F’n" Rhoda. Rhoda was fresh off a victory over Mikey McFly in his NCW debut at 10 Year Reunion, and headed to the ring full of attitude. The two competed in a technical match up, battling back and forth with moves and countermoves. The end of the match came when Hunter was able to lock Rhoda in his modified DDT, the Cross Hairs, which was enough to finally keep Rhoda down for a 3 count.

The next match was scheduled to be the culmination of the brutal serious of matches between Cenobite and Rob Impact, as the two faced off in a Chain Match. In this match, it is legal to use the chain, which is connected on each end to a wrestler’s wrist. Unlike their previous matches, which began with both wrestlers trying to outwrestle one another, this was an out and out brawl. Each wrestler used the chain several times, with neither wrestler gaining a strong upper hand. After about 10 minutes of brutality, it looked like Cenobite was going to knock Rob Impact out after he wrapped the chain around his wrist and reared his hand back for a knockout punch. What he didn’t realize what that Rob Impact had the same idea, and they both connected with haymakers, falling to the canvas. While both men were down and out, former NCW Champion Tim Kilgore appeared out of the crowd and attacked Rob Impact. Prior to taking a leave of absence in NCW, Kilgore was involved in some brutal matches with Rob Impact, but no one expected to see Kilgore back in NCW as rumor had spread that Kilgore was living in Kentucky. Kilgore grabbed the microphone with force, and told the crowd that he wanted to have one last match with Impact, and not just any match, but a Last Man Standing Match. He then proceeded to wrap the chain around Impact’s throat, and choked him until the referee stopped the match. It was a scary moment, and some NCW wrestlers felt that the referee waited too long, as Impact was light headed and could hardly speak when he finally got back to the locker room for medical attention. Cenobite was ruled the winner of the match.

The next match was "Revolution" Chris Venom vs. "The Lebanese Prince" Paul Lombardi. Lombardi was wheeled to the ring in a shopping cart, and was wearing a robe and Middle Eastern headwear. Lombardi informed the fans in Warwick that "Paul Lombardi" is just his American name, and that his family back in Beirut, Lebanon is rich from Saudi Arabian oil profits. He was accompanied by an assistant, and informed us of his name, which I couldn’t spell if my life depended on it. Thankfully, Lombardi said we could just call his assistant "Steve," which is easy to spell. As a former NCW Champion, Chris Venom didn’t come to the ring to stand around and talk on a microphone, and he helped put a stop to Lombardi’s verbal rampage. The two competed in a back and forth battle which saw Venom get the upper hand several times, however whenever things looked bleak for Lombardi, his assistant Steve would intervene. Venom was eventually able to neutralize Steve’s interference, and picked up the win with a Powerbomb. Venom looked impressive, and appears to be mounting a comeback after losing 2 NCW Title matches against NCW Champ Doug Summers.

The next match was a 2-out-of-3 Falls match for the NCW Tag Team Titles. After 2 years of rivalry, it was ruled that Generation SLAM could only get this title shot against The Maine State Posse if they agreed to never get another title shot if they lost. The Maine State Posse (Scott Vegas and Alex Chamberlain) were first to hit the ring. When Generation SLAM’s music played, Tim Pittman and the sexy Mercedez entered through the curtain, and then Jon Thornhill appeared on the top rope after sneaking to the ring through a side door. Thornhill surprised the Maine State Posse with a Missile Dropkick, tossed both men out of the ring, and dove onto them with a Somersault Plancha to the outside. Generation Slam were able to ride this wave of momentum, winning the first fall after Thornhill cradled up Scott Vegas for a quick 3 count around 9 minutes into the match. The second fall went to the Maine State Posse about 7 minutes later, when Scott Vegas laid out Tim Pittman with a Northern Lights Bomb. While Pittman struggled back to his feet, Alex Chamberlain laid him out with an Impact DDT, and Pittman appeared to be out of the match. Alex Chamberlain went after Thornhill, leaving Pittman prone for another pin, which would give Maine State Posse the win. Mercedez got on the ring apron to check on Pittman, and Vegas dragged her into the ring. Vegas took advantage of having Mercedez all to himself and licked his lips and sprayed some Banaca, ready to give her a big kiss. Mercedez was able to free herself and slap the daylights out of Vegas, and it was a good thing because I’d give Mecedez a Honey Rating of 10/10, and if Vegas kissed her she would have slipped down to a 7. Pittman was able to recover enough to mount a small comeback, and Generation Slam looked to be on the verge of victory at around the 21 minute mark. After a Slamplex and Senton from Pittman, Chamberlain dragged his prone partner out of the ring and a donnybrook ensued. With Pittman and Thornhill beating on Chamberlain, Vegas climbed to the top rope and hit a picture perfect Cross Body to the outside on all 3 men. As the referee was about to count all 4 men out, Generation Slam climbed back in the ring, and as Vegas was getting back in the ring, Chamberlain pulled him out. Rather than continuing the match and possibly losing the Titles, The Maine State Posse decided to lose the match by Countout, which would prevent them from losing the belts. Given that they won, Generation Slam are still eligible for a title shot, however Pittman has signed an International Contract with NCW and will be moving to Japan soon, so it appears The Maine State Posse screwed Generation Slam out of their last tag team title match.

The final match at Meltdown was for the NCW Heavyweight Title. NCW Champ Doug Summers has been on a roll lately, trying to earn a spot in the NCW History books as the best champion ever. After defeating #1 contender Chris Venom twice for the NCW Title, including a special title defense at a New World Wrestling event, Summers was up against the man he beat in the Semifinals of the NCW Title Tournament in January, Triplelicious. As always, Triplelicious was accompanied to the ring by his manager JC Marxxx, who was up to no good as usual at ringside. Marxxx reminds me of the gutless mayor from my hometown in Alabama, always making buffalo eyes at cute ladies, trying to see down to their flowers. Triplelicious put forth a very impressive performance in this match, proving that he deserved a title shot even though he probably only got one due to JC Marxxx’s dirty politics. In the end, Summers proved that he is the top wrestler in NCW by pinning Triplelicious after hitting his signature move, the Beautiful Disaster.

Upcoming- A Look At The NCW Title
By Felix Roberts; 5/22/07

In one corner we have Doug Summers. He likes to refer to himself as "Captain NCW" and has been mentioned on this webpage and others as the unofficial leader of the NCW Uprising. A group of young up and comers in the New England Wrestling scene making a name for themselves in NCW. Charismatic, tenacious and as technically sound in the ring as they come, Doug exploded into NCW in 2005 and quickly became a fan favorite. He worked his way up the ladder, taking the NCW New England Championship on the way up, before reaching the top and the crown jewel of NCW in January of 2007, the NCW Championship. Since January, Doug has had a number of big title defense bouts. All of which have seen him standing with his hand raised, and the NCW Championship safely around his waist at their end. This Friday, May 25th at the Warwick Columbus Club , Doug faces what could turn out to be his toughest challenge yet.

In the opposite corner stands Triplelicious. A multiple time New England, Tag Team and NCW champion. Triplelicious is one of the longest active competitors in Northeast Championship Wrestling and is far more dangerous today than when he started out in 1997. "Trip", as his friends call him, is heading into this match on May 25th with height, weight and experience all on his side. In addition to this his manager and childhood friend JC Marxxx will be in his corner, giving Summers a little extra something to worry about. This interviewer got the chance to sit down with Triplelicious and Marxxx for an interview at the manager's Pawtucket apartment.

Felix Roberts: On May 25th NCW is coming back to the Columbus Club in Warwick, Rhode Island. At this event you, Triplelicious are going to have a chance to reclaim the NCW Championship for an unprecedented 5th time.

JC Marxxx: That's right.

Roberts: A fifth Championship reign is a huge deal in any sporting event. The Pittsburg Steelers were able to do it over the course of four decades. The Chicago Bulls, during the Michael Jordan years, were able to cement their legacy as arguably the greatest NBA team in history by winning 6 in the nineties. Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer of all time, was only able to claim the World Heavyweight Champion three times in his storied career. The only thing standing between Triplelicious and sports immortality, is the current NCW Champion. Doug Summers. What are your thoughts on knocking on the door of one of the highest honors in professional wrestling and what are your thoughts on your opponent for May 25th, Doug Summers.

Triplelicious: Doug Summers, ain't S*#&.

JC Marxxx: Jesus, Trip!

Triplelicious: Print that. Put that all over the webpage. I'd love to have a big banner outside of the [Warwick Columbus] Club on May 25th, so when Summers walks into the building he can see exactly what I think of him. I'm not worried about Doug Summers, I don't respect Doug Summers and I sure as hell ain't scared of Doug Summers.

Roberts: Why is that?

Triplelicious: Because he's a punk. He's had a few good matches and got a few lucky title defenses and people are talking about the kid like he's some big deal. He's nothing to me, he ain't in my league. Put together a list of Doug Summers accomplishments in NCW next to a list of mine and that Doug Summers list is gonna look short as hell.

Roberts: I don't think anyone could argue with that, but to be fair, you have been in NCW a lot longer than Doug Summers has.

Triplelicious: True, true. Okay, why stop at NCW? Get a list of Summer's accomplishments in his wrestling career and stack that up next to mine. I know in most wrestling federations they don't like you talking about your accomplishments in other places, other territories, but I ain't afraid to do that. I've held championships in a bunch of companies. I've put entire locker rooms on my back and still the people come out to see me in the ring. I'm not just one of the most decorated men in NCW, I'm one of the most decorated men in THE ENTIRE NORTH EAST. Doug Summers can't compare to that. He ain't even on my radar.

Roberts: That's another point that can't be argued with. However, a point I can make in defense of Summers is this is not the first time the two of you have met. In fact back in the championship tournament...

JC Marxxx: (interrupting) Alright, alright we both know where you're going with this. Yes, Doug Summers beat Trip in the championship tournament at the same building we will be in Friday, May 25th. There were a lot of circumstances surrounding that match that the press and the people in the audience did not know about. Triplelicious was not at 100%....

Triplelicious: (interrupting) I wasn't at 100%!!

JC Marxxx: More importantly then that is that Doug Summers had the easiest route through that tournament of the 8 NCW wrestlers in it. That's because [President of NCW, Mike] Paiva thinks Summers is the proverbial "Golden Boy" that he can build this company around....

Triplelicious: (interrupting....again) Conspiracy!!

JC Marxxx: I mean, I could go on and on all day about the circumstances of that tournament match, but the fact is this. Doug Summers got lucky. It was a one in a million shot and he hit the jackpot that night. Yes, he won their match in January, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Roberts: I think you're misusing that metaphor.

JC Marxxx: What do you mean?

Roberts: "Even a broken clock is right twice a day"? That metaphor isn't really applicable to this situation. (Long Pause)

JC Marxxx: Huh? What are you.... Shut up!

Triplelicious: The man knows what he's talking about! That's why he's my manager. Because he's smart. You should hear the kind of stuff this kid comes up with, ideas he's got. Makes my brainy cells hurt just thinking about it!

Roberts: Yes.... well, be that as it may we're almost out of time here. Do you have any last words for your opponent on May 25th?

Triplelicious: Yeah. Summers, you're a punk. You've beaten a couple of respectable wrestlers in this company, I'll give you that. The first time we locked up you got lucky, I'll give that one to you too. You pinned me, and I hope it felt great. I hope that the feeling you got from pinning one of the best in New England kept you warm at night when you heard this match was coming. Because after May 25th, that's all you're going to have. Memories. You aren't going to have your belt, that's for sure. You ain't going to be no champion anymore. But at least you'll be able to look back and say "I beat Triplelicious once". You're outta your league, son. You're in over your head. On May 25th, at the Warwick Columbus Club, in Warwick Rhode Island I'm taking your belt back home, and I'm going to be the first ever FIVE TIME NCW Champion.

Roberts: Well thank you for your time gentleman.

Triplelicious: Yo, one more thing dogg.

Roberts: Yes?

Triplelicious: I’m Trip Bytch!

JC Marxxx: Yeah! This interview is over!

Roberts: Yes, it is. I just said that.

JC Marxxx: What?

Roberts: Before I asked that last question. I said we're out of time. (Another Long Pause)

JC Marxxx: Get out of my house.

Before publishing the interview you have just read, this reporter sent the first copy to Doug Summers and asked if he would like a rebuttal. Summers stated he would not be able to provide an interview before the event on May 25th, but sent an e-mail in reply that he asked we publish alongside the interview with Triplelicious and Marxxx.

What follows is that e-mail, copied verbatim.

"Well no surprises there, eh? Triplelicious goes on and on about his past accomplishments, writes off my win in January as a fluke and makes every excuse in the book about his loss in that match. Well Trip you don't respect me? That's fine. I'm not looking for your respect. If i needed it i could just beat the respect out of you. That really doesn't bother me. You said you aren't worried about me either, that I’m "under your radar". That's just fine by me. The way i see it, you just gave me another advantage in this match. Because i do have a lot of respect for what Triplelicious has done in this business. I understand the fact that this man is a four time NCW Champion. I recognize that he has held gold in every wrestli
